Hi T, this is looking real sweet mate! And those leaves just take it to the next level.
I hope you don't mind if I mention this, but if you're worried about the shine of dried Elmers glue you can use matt varnish as a glue for leaves, dirt, bullet shells etc.
Great stuff mate! cheers JT

Hey T awesome work! Love everthing about this. Streaking looks great:). Keep it coming! Here's an update on my 55' chevy cameo.Put the wheels on. Did a Burnt Umber oil wash over all the white/rust areas. Then I added some Mig old rust pigments and Highlighted with Mig standard rust pigs and shaded with black pigs. I think it’s coming together, but I still have a lot to do with it. Everything you see is simply dryfitted for the pic. I still have the unique situation of the Fiberglass side-panels of the bed/box. Yesterday, I did a black oil wash and then added an AK dark wash today. It’s getting there, but I will happily take suggestions. More pics in the rustbucket section www.modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rustbucket&action=display&thread=955&page=2Let me know what you think and will take any critique I can get as this is my first bit of rustification! cheers all:)

Thanks Guys!!! Spud - Sometimes I add a seal coat. I have not left any steps out as of yet! I am letting things cure up till tomorrow and I will lay down a clear coat to seal what I have done so far. Then there is more to come soon!! Thanks JT!! Never mind you mentioning. That is exactly what makes this Q&A what it is. The exchanging of ideas and sharing. Funny that you do mention it. I think about that as I am putting these things together, however, I should not have a problem as the weathering pretty much matt the finish as does and clear coats I apply. Multi, Outstanding work my friend. I have been neglecting getting to every post here from time to time. I love the concept and the fact that the rear quarters are fiberglass make this even more interesting. I like where you heading too. If I had to suggest, since you asked , Build up some dark wash in the bottom crease and along the underside of the flair bump out in the fender. You might be able to add some green as well. I could see a couple of shade of off white and yellowish tinge to the white fiberglass. this would show in lower sections and shadow areas. The horizontal surfaces that face skyward would be bleached whiter than the rest. IMHO. The rusting is great and the rims are spot on!! (boy I talk too much) I will head over to you blog on this one to check out the other pics!!

Spud, I used any number of various things I suppose. A lot of time I will let the previous steps just cure a day or two and go on to another. If you are careful you won't get too much manipulation from the previous layer. However on multiple layers, like with this project, I will clear coat more often to protect my earlier work. For the AK stuff though they do recommend a satin clear. This will ease in the application of the Streaking Grimes and Washes. I have found little to know difference between them, except to say that the Testor's might give you a cloud effect in some cases. A lot of time clouding and pooling and /or cracking and suck have to do with the conditions to which the clear coat was applied under. Always test what ever you are going to clear coat beforehand. I mainly you the Tamiya and Vallejo, because this is what I had. Now I do have 3 different clears from K4 at the moment. Matte, Satin and Gloss and these are right there in the playing field as well now. Hope some of this helps!! ;D

For acrylic paints use water.
For Clearfix use Meths.
For Mattcote, Satincote and Glosscote use Humbrol Enamel Thinners.. The official Humbrol WebsiteHope it helps!

Thanks you very much Bil....and you welcome! Yes, there are close to about 8 billion products, well, not that many but it certainly seems that way. I would say if you had to look into the weather products genre to add to the stash, I would go with just about any of the AK line. They are great and being in the Nor' East really easy to get. Are you planning on going to AMPS East at the end of September? If so, I will be there as well as Iain from AK. It would make a great time to check out the full line and get the drill straight from the horse's mouth!!

Hi Todd
I'm off work sick and whilst lying in bed have just stumbled across your thread on Basic Rusting and Weathering and have to say it's the clearest and easiest to follow on the topic I've come across, so thank you far taking the time to put it together.
Yours
Andrew
