Little chassis updates. The big question is: How many times am I gonna break the antenna. The over/under is 10 times

Stunning work my friend! See, you should've made the antenna mount workable, then you could put it in the stowed position when you handle the model

All those little details are adding up quite nicely PJ. If I were you I'd leave that antenna off till the end, no sense creating frustration for yourself, lol. Then again, I do the same thing all the time. Like the Mrs. says, "will you ever learn?" Bahahhaaa.......... I'm roughly 90mi's N of Spokane, in the boonies up in the tree line. Where are you PJ?

Thanks again Steve...... For those scoring at home..... Three fricking times since last night I broke the GD antenna... Well here is a crate/wooden box. As a modeler with with a smidgen of talent and a lot of motivation I can't see why people don't build their own versus buying the same stale mass produced variants... anywho......

So, one of the cool aspects of building 1/25 and 1/20th scale projects has been coming up with the accessories. Something I TOTALLY took for granted when I used to build 1/35th. As most of you know there is so much in the way of extra's now for that scale, you could fall out of a boat and still hit 1/35th scale accessories.(no that's not a bad thing). Now some of you out there in Hobby-land could careless, BUT I remember my first 1/25th build, the original BergePanther. Man 30 years ago there was NOTHING in the way of extras, now thanks to some folks over at PanzerHobbyArt.com they have created a fair amount of stuff. For me though I still enjoy the scratch build element, to that end here's my bucket and tent for the Ausf "L":

Some fine scratch work PJ! Nothing like being a little creative. Have you given any thought to using a piece of wire for the antenna? Just a thought.

Dang, your latest pics didn't come out on my side, but that link is perfect, got me a 1/25th Panther that may need some more parts.
Question, not joking on this, but that tank driver doesn't quite look like he'll fit in the copula from here. Is he going to go on a diet or are ya gonna have to slim him down yourself? It just looks like a tight fit to me, but it also looks like you may have already trimmed him a bit, not sure.
At any rate, the detail is stupendous!

Steve, No worries. I don't mind the the question at all. I test fit him several times during the construction of both him and the cupola....yeah it's a "tight fit". BUT I honestly believe that was the case in real life..... As you no doubt already know, Panzer III's weren't luxury condo's on tracks, there a snug fit all around. Remember in 1940 Fatso Goering suggested a tank that the crew all had to be 5ft 5inches or less...LOL The guys over at Panzer Hobby have some good stuff. If you ever need other stuff for your Panther. All my accessories are cast from my own masters. Everything from the 2.cm on my BergePanther down to pistols. Just say the word.

This is one heck of a great SBS for anyone to follow, thx for keepin it going. Kinda reminds me of when I made a "paper" Mark IV back many moons ago. I sure the heck don't remember what happened to it or where I got the instructions, but it actually came out kinda nice. Ruck On, Ski.

Dierk, Danke my friend........ How's the GPA?
So here is more "test" fitting the stinking rotten Schurzen..... Man what was I thinking?

Post by panzerjager2 on Jun 2, 2017 23:58:20 GMT -5
So in advance of some sideline hecklers......... With scratch-builds you have to test fit everything. It's something else I took for granted in my 1/35th days. Now with the with dubious exceptions of Revell, ESCI, AMT and say EARLY Italeri most kits we expect to fit. With scratch you have to think in 3-dimension. Take the Schurzen, they have to fit on the support arms, clear the engine vents, antenna bracket, front deflector and any stowage thrown on not to mention the S-mine/Smoke launchers. Man it's a challenge...... Thanks for looking in
