Now that it's almost May, figured it was a good time to set up my 2017 gallery...LOL Better late than never! Time to get back to the bench! Thanks for stopping in!

You and me both...can't believe I'm this far behind in logging stuff for the year. Excellent lineup so far! I'm hoping that AMPS will get you out of your building funk and up the production.

The biggest difference between you and me Dupes...if I am slow, I might be down to two or three builds...you are at 20 or 30!! LOL The AMPS show helped with some mojo...Inspiration is hard to come by as of late, so I am trying to draw form "different" outlets to keep things moving! Couple things lingering around the bench...hoping to get into the booth by the weekend! Right up your alley too...a little sci-fi action!

Sneaking another on in on my list of completions this year...above! The piece is called Interstellar Interloper "Roswell 1947" from Collapse Industries. This is a 2.5 inch casting from a sculpt by Josh P. Crockett. This is for a table display for the upcoming Wonderfest show in Kentucky next month. "A Quicky"...one reason I did not blog it. The other reason was I started it last night and finished tonight....LOL Sometimes we just need to get to it, and get it done!

That sub chaser turned out well, T. You did great job on both, the ship and the sea.

Thanks Bob! I had the ship built for a review not too long ago. It gave me the perfect excuse to have a go at the water. Thanks Wouts! Most of the credit to the water goes to seeing a number of builds from Kostas Katseas and of course Chris Flodberg. Chris actually has a few SBS's out there. Basically, the base is Styrofoam and I took a lighter to is upside down (per Chris's idea) and made the ripples. Added Liquitex Gloss Heavy Gel paying attention to the waves and whatnot...then a layer of small pices of ripped paper into the wet gel to cover any hole in the foam board, another layer of Heavy gel. Painted the whole thing with some cheap acrylic paint I had...Black, Blue and a dab of white...airbrushed two or three colors lighter green-blues where waves and ripples went. Glossed over it with Liquitex Gloss Medium $ Varnish. Used the same stuff to wet areas for the foamy water and use stretched out cotton from a cotton ball into the wet varnish. Made adjustments with a fine brush to calm things down...then glossed the whole thing with Vallejo's still water.

Thanks for mentioning it, Kostas and Chris are two of my favs. Hope to be able to try Chris' technique for my Yamato, in a year or ten Cheers

Be very careful doing this. I would even go so far as to say, skip the well ventilated room and do it outside using a mask. The smoke and fumes given off are highly toxic and not to be trifled with.

Wouts...Chris's stuff is just prolific! LOL>...Maybe slap together a mini version of the Yamato to go along with your epic build!! Thanks Bob! The fume from EPS or XPS can kick the crap out of your lungs...probably should have added the "don't try this at home" disclaimer unless you have ventilation. I spent 10 years working for a company burning this stuff and more in the interest of science and engineering. Most of that was wearing an SCBA! LOL (I was outside for the record)

Rob
The subchaser looks great.
I'd love to see a SBS (or a link to someone who has done one) on your next water build. Those waves are outstanding!

Wouts....Won-Hui Lee's stuff is fantastic! Certainly something to set for some goals! Thanks Bill! Definitely a fun time! Plotting my next move now I think...LOL Hi Boyd! Thanks! "Rob"? LOL....I know who you meant (I think) I don't have a problem snapping pics along the way on the next one my friend. Visually it is easier to follow than reading about it!
