Anthony Thank you kindly my good man. No bench time today. Too much to get done, and little time to do it. So, what I present to you is yesterdays, progress. More oil paint techniques. There is still much to do in terms of layering the weathering.
Here is a victim of the handling during weathering. A cable clamp that has gone MIA as a sacrifice to the floor monster. Time to scratch build another one.

Leon Thank you as always my good man for your support. Not a lot of time at the bench this week, as the kids are home for spring break. I was, however, able to steal some time away earlier. The weathering has begun on the lower and rear hull. It got a dusting of Vallejo Concrete, heavily thinned and shot through the AB to give a .....well.....dusty effect. I'll get better pics up later to show that and the pigment effects. The track is test fitted as I needed to see if it required 4 or 5 more links. Looks like 5 more will do. The barrel only got a light weathering as it was a recent replacement. Sorry for the blurry pics. I'll get some better quality ones up later.

This has been a weird and expensive week for this household. I left work earlier this week to check on my son, who attends school out of town. He was having some odd neuro symptoms that ended up resolving (that's the short version). He's doing better, thankfully. I got home late yesterday, and the dishwasher finally gave up the ghost. The fact that it was emitting a burning plastic smell is never a good thing. My scanner which was in fine working order is no longer supported by the latest OS upgrade....Fantastic! The new dishwasher should be here next week....Kaaaaaching! The new printer/scanner is downstairs in its box....more Kaaaaching. There's a reason that I had those extra shifts on my paycheck. I am grateful that my son is better and I had the wherewithall to replace those items. This week wasn't all bad. My wife got me a belated Xmas present. A WnW Felixstowe kit. It's massive. Half of the upper wing is longer than my forearm. It'll be a 34" plus wing span when done. Sorry for prattling on. I eked in some bench time today. My goal was to get the tracks painted. I was able to do that, weather, and mount them. BONUS! I painted them with Vallejo Track Primer, and weathered them with a slurry of Mig Gulf Sand Pigment in water. Once this dried, I brushed off the excess pigment. This gave a nice dusted appearance. The wear areas were done with a graphite stick, and some smudge sticks. The left hand track is now permanently mounted. The aft end of the left track. Once the track pins are fully cured in place, I'll adjust the idler wheels. Those four brackets on the aft end? They are spare track hangers. It's getting there We now have the right track mounted. You can see the pin sprue. Once fully cured, I'll trim it off. Exhaust sooting done with Vallejo Flat Black cut with a dark grey, and heavily thinned. I shot it at about 10psi.

Thank you Leon. Yeah it was expensive, but I am grateful for having the means to afford it. There were a good many other things I could have done with the $$$. It simply boiled down to wants vs needs. I've got some Mission Models paints that should arrive today. I thought I'd give them a trial run. I've heard good things about them.
Thank you for the high praise Anthony. Hopefully I'll get some bench time today....today is supposed to be the one day without rain. Headed out to the archery range for some therapeutic fun.

Good evening Leon. I got a few colors to trial. I have to say, with what I've played with thus far, I like them. One of the colors I ordered and played with first was the Elfenbein. This is close to white as I have of their colors, and in theory would be a difficult color to coat with. I could be wrong. I sprayed it on slightly wet at about 12psi. I had first laid down some hairspray, and dried it. The color coated nicely over a dark blue under coat. This is my Pz III test hull. After a bit of drying, I then started chipping at the paint. Here is what resulted. The quarter will give a good sense of scale.

Leon Good morning. You are most welcome. Sorry for the delay. PT109 Yeah, that does look quite weird. The tool clamps were easy to work with. If I were to display them open, then I would make myself crazy (er) and go with the Aber.
Hmmmm....It seems I have missed a step, and not posted the finished pics. I'll get back around to it, as the bench is currently occupied.
