The impressive work continues. How do you make the rivets?

Thanks fellas ! I appreciate it... Tobi, The rivets are actually washers from a Scale Motorsports PE Set consisting of nut/bolt and dzus fasteners in 1/24 scale.

John, What I wouldn't give for a Nice E Type roadster. It must have been fun when you weren't dealing with the Lucas electrics gremlins...

Dang Pete!!! That does look quite sound on there buddy!! I wouldn't have thought that a vintage Corvette windscreen would have fit as good as this does. That's some mighty fancy footwork friend.

Thanks Joe/Gary! It was one of those "If this don't work, oh well" kind of things. Soo, no pressure...LOL and then it turns out well...If it was critical, it would have cracked a dozen different ways!

Thanks gentlemen! Glad you like it. It's one of those bucket list builds for me. I have to have one in my stable of road race giants! LOL... Just gotta decide if it's the, front seal or back of the head oil leak John...Hmm, perhaps rear main on this one. It is a race car after all!!!

Just gone from start to finish and i gotta say that is one sexy looking `D Type`, the final finish and all the detail work is terrific. Spookily enough i`ve just had some BRG turn up today so i can finish my shelf queen Bentley 4.2 with blower that i started many moons ago

Valve covers were really hard to keep from leaking on mine, the paper gaskets would much better have been o ring material in a groove as Caterpillar does. I think differential heating was the culprit, as well as the huge amount of oil flowing up there to keep the cups over the valves lubricated. I don't recall having much trouble with the front and rear seals. Most of the oil went by the guides and through the combustion process, it was as I recall an 8 quart sump and 200 miles was enough to need another quart of Castrol 20-50. I drove an XK-120 once and it had an oil level gauge on the instrument board.

Thanks fellas for the kind words! Boots, I have a Bentley That I started a long time ago too. I should put it on the short list for completion. Yeah John, Those cam covers were common leakers. I had occasion to Tig weld up a few of those covers because the owner decided to try and tighten down the cam cover nuts to stop the leak...Sheesh! And they were cheaper to repair than to replace... Joerix, Lets hope the judges on the show circuit agree with you when the time comes!

I`m going thru a phase of trying to knock out some of the shelf queens that have accumulated over the past few years , once i get this present build done it`ll take one step nearer fella

John, What I wouldn't give for a Nice E Type roadster. It must have been fun when you weren't dealing with the Lucas electrics gremlins... I mispoke when I typed roadster, mine was a fixed head coupe. It was 3 years old when I bought it and all the roadsters I looked at were all suffering from some type of interior issues. I never regretted having the FHC. As for Lucas, I replaced the 4TR relay once (Jaguar for voltage regulator), nothing else was an issue that had Lucas written on it. Most of the Lucas issues came after Leyland got involved. Morons!

How do you use the foil like that? I'd love to see a SBS on how you do it

Which foil are you speaking of Robbo? There isn't much on this car. Just the bottom of the windscreen and a few small bits on the floor pan in the interior... Let me know, I'll show you what ever you need.
