hi All not posted for some time so I thought I show you my latest work and they are both WIP they are not finished. still got a second AVRE hull to build. so completed model is based on my old tank and is set in 1975 and is PRE Pipe Fascine we were still using chestnut fascines. cradle should fold like it is and both cradle and blade are loos and can be removed . turret will be rear wards and fasciae launching strop to add along with tow ropes. all handles scratch built and basket filled an more cam net to go on basket top. 01BA73 stayed in this configuration till scrapped in 93 Other one you can see is a Mk3 turret but this is a Pipe Fascine vehicle so late 80s not new episcope on front of turret has mk5 , big blanking plate and it did not have a rear hatch only two AVREs did or they were welded up . but not two different types of fixings on turret to hold Pipe Fascine back hope you like it long way to go Ossie

Ossie, I'm glad that you came back and gave this place another shot man. Thank you for responding the the email and welcome back aboard.
Looks like you've got ALOT of detail in this build and it's looking great!! Painting something like this would drive me nuts fully assembled.

Hi Joe
just building the basics to show the two different versions and periods .
ossie We have differing opinions of what comprises “basic”. If this is basic what does advanced look like?

Looks great, and welcome back! I got one like this for my grandson, AFV Club Centurian with dozer, he's ready to give it a go. He's by no means ready for PE, but OOTB will keep him going.

Lookin' good Ossie! I'm a big fan of the Cent myself, especially when it's in IDF sand-gray.

Hi Everyone WIP So a little update on my Centurion AVRE builds. So I have built two turrets one we call a Mk 5 turret this is has per the kit BUT you can see I have changed a few bits on the turret top. This is typical of PRE pipe fascine an factually this tank 01BA73 is still in this configuration today. This is based on my first Drive in Armoured engineers in 1975 with Larkspur radios. Second turret is a MK 3 build upgraded to Mk5 . It has the shape of a Mk3 turret and is based on pipe fascine onwards. This turret DOES not have the rear escape hatch . Like all AVREs a new episcope has been added to the turret front angle. This has the correct fitting to carry a pipe fascine, glansman radios as well . This will be 05ZR38 Back basket was built and a very thin coat of magic sculpt was used and some internally of the basket to give strength. The cam net is AFV Club I have AK cam net would do greta for barracuda mat but not want I want so will add more AFV Club netting after painting . Hope you like it Ossie

Man that is some SERIOUS detail Ossie!! I really enjoy watching the lengths that you armor guys go to in order to acheive the most accurate and amazing details. It's truly a joy to follow.

Looking good! Whats the difference in the AK net vs the AFV Club Net hi so the differences are :- AK camouflage net is a cloth based and you pull it part to make a camouflage net . great for say adding barracuda camouflage mat or a cam net over a vehicle . AFV Clubs is a decal so you have to soak it then you use it wet then let it dry, it is loos so I secured mine with a touch of PVA Glue . so what I am looking for is the look of a camouflage net rolled up or lying in a bundle therefore the AFV Club one lends to my needs nicely. very tricky to use but does look good . Ossie

Eye googling and mind boggling work, so amazed at the detail you can achieve to push this model over the top.

Thank you for the explanation, very helpful. The old school approach is medical gauze soaked in water & white glue and then tea or oregano crumbled over. The AFV Club netting in the stowage basket looks very neat and realistic.

Very interesting build! I’m not familiar with the use of fascines and am curious to see where that’s going! Looks like aftermarket, resin road wheels? …awesome progress!

Thank you all for the Comments and I will soon be back at my desk model making . so not only does a AVRE carry a Fascine to drop into a ditch to make a crossing it also can launch track way and lay it over the toe of a bridge . here is a example of how its done . same way almost to launch a Fascine. one cross bridge 2 fire blow out retaining pins holding roll on tank at toe of bridge let class 60 roll out back up and fire blow out pins to drop mat on toe of bridge drive forward push the reel out the way if one is used

Hi All sorry for not posting before but one has been busy . so I back into the seat has you might say. fascine cradle built ready to be installed, dozer blade all built ready to reinstalled , tracks cleaned up and will fit for a photo shot but ha they are individual plastic links they fall apart easy . hopefully when fitted and secured they be ok . but I will paint there insides the attach them . headlights on the inside was painted with Vallejo silver paint now awaiting this part to dry before finishing them off . this is what's left to build on this one. - [ ] Front light cable - [ ] Front headlights - [ ] Tow rope - [ ] Add handles to bins - [ ] Engine and gearbox decks handles - [ ] Side plate out riggers hope you like it so far Ossie

There are a TON of details that you have added to the exterior of this tank and it all looks brilliant Ossie. I really get into all of the work that you armor guys put into these builds and am envious of the talent that it takes to paint the whole vehicle with all of the details installed. Good progress on this one and am looking forward to seeing more updates. Glad to see you back bud.

Joe thanks for the kind words. all I say patience is a must when building something like this and more over making a list of all the extra work you wish to add or delete from the start helps Ossie I pretty much live by lists so that is a must for me when modeling. Especially when I'm pretty close to the end of a build and not knowing what to do next. lol
