You are giving me some good info on how an undamaged AVRE should look. The reference photos I find are of old damaged tanks or just badly focused images. I'm in the very early stages of mine in 1/25 (as I mentioned in the private message). I'll see about starting a thread, but progress will be slow at times. I see the mantlet cover has access for the searchlight mount, did they ever fit one?

Hi All just a little update ,Gun Mantels painted :- so done some glazing followed by dry brushing followed by some wash. so the paints used for this process were :- Vallejo panzer aces canvas plus some other colours also used Scale 75 artist range to do highlights and some burnt umber wash. next job is to start on the exhausts and exhaust covers and front of Dozer blade and turret rollers , using hairspray method to create rust. Ossie Your processes for weathering the tracks as well as the mantel are all top notch Ossie. These tracked vehicles look very aggressive with those dozer blades on them. Keep these awesome updates coming as these are really some detailed techniques that you're taking the time to explain bud. Looking great so far.

Hi All so today I have been weathering the dozer blade on one of the models and tow ropes . the dozer bead actually goes silver when uses but soon goes rusty. I have used SCALE 75 paints silver and dark silver to achieve the look I want , next stage is when I come to add the pigments I will add some texture pigment to the dozer blade. Ossie

Hi All so a little update so one of them I have added some green stuff terrain pigments the other one is almost but not quite finished , I have copied a picture of a dusty AVRE awaiting to be repaired at a workshop hence the dusty look but need to sort the blade out also few other things I am not happy with . but here it is so far almost done. so the dust is off a real tank park lol , the pigments are mainly old school artist chalks ground down so can be added with water as well hope you like them so far .

Man, these are both beautiful top-notch builds. Your painting and weather work is just excellent. I really like the details you've added to these, they really make the models come to life.
Bravo Sir!

Jeez!! Have I been asleep at the wheel or WHAT?!! I come back to this thread to see that all kinds of work has been going on. These processes you're using with the chalks for the weathering and dirt effects are bringing this build to a great level. Great photography goin' on as well Ossie.

Hi All so the AVRE with the Mk3 turret 05ZR38 IS 99.5 % done just a couple of things to sort out later. so to complete th finished I went back to the Artist pastel Acrylic Chalks and you can use them with water and create some great washes , this is very much old school pigments I was taught in the 70s-80s . so this AVRE is a dusty tank which is sitting out side a workshop to be repaired , actual vehicle its based on is a lot more dusty but this is enough. the photograph does not show it off to well but maybe when I finish them both I have some great pictures of it . hope you enjoyed its . Enjoy Ossie

Nice work with the weathering! That’s a look that captures the after use appearance where they have been washed, but do not have a pristine look.

That Green Stuff Texturing looks great, and it looks like it is easy to use, is that the case?
Does it come in different colors?
