That is some mighty fine and fancy footwork that you pulled off with that build Tony. I still can't get over the cracked paint on the roof and how you pulled that all off. Perfect detailing and awesome look to the whole van. Perfection.

Perfect detailing and awesome look to the whole van. Perfection. Ironically enough getting just the right amount of wear and tear was probably the hardest part of the whole thing. It needed to be blotchy in areas without having obvious differences between them, the roof and a couple of small areas on the sides needed to have cracked but not peeling paint and I had to add a couple of subtle door dings that didn't just look like stuff in the paint. Not to mention 1/24 scale swirl marks! You would think that would be easy but it took at least 5 try's to get something that wasn't way over scale or almost invisible. I wish I had pictures of the real thing to show just how close it actually is but if any ever existed they are long gone now.

It all seemed to come together for one fine result Tony. It certainly looks like a daily driver.

Unbelievably cool! Brings back great memories of tricked out vans of my youth, and the awesome imagination always floored me! Great build, Tony!

Man, that is legit. Seems odd to my eyes to see one of these and it not be a Scooby van. Well done.

LOL I took great pride in making this model a bang on replica of the van I used to own. I spent hours cracking the paint on the roof, getting just the right swirls on the sides, finding and printing the exact posters and and 8-track labels and scratch building my army equipment that I hauled around. I have looked at the model on display and pictures a hundred times or more and thought "perfect"! Last night a buddy was over and he took one look at it and said "Ummmm shouldn't there be a door handle and lock on the rear doors?" Well... yes, yes there should. Back to the bench but at least it is easy.

Glad I didn't miss this! I love the idea of building cars you used to own. Maybe I should do the same one day. Love the weathered roof by the way!

I have several now but they sort of got hidden when the thread categories got changed. The nice part of doing the cars I used to own is that very few of them were shiny. I don't do shiny well. 69 Corvair74 Datsun Pickup64 Impala SS Convertable

Ohhh! 64 Impala SS Convertible is very nice! My favorite car is probably 1982 Monte Carlo. I had it painted gold after an idiot got us into a small accident but it was repairable so I was so happy to see factory paint brown gone!

There is a list of what I had in the Impala thread if you follow the link.

If this van is a rocking', don't bother knocking'.... LOL!
Nicely done! The interior is a bit of a contrast from the plain exterior.

It is kind of frustrating when we're showing off something we did to a friend and THEY come up with something that we totally missed. lol . In any case, I know you'll get it taken care of.

That plain exterior really messed with a pile of Mustang and Camaro divers. With the fully built 351 crammed into the doghouse that thing would pick the front wheels off the ground for an easy 50 feet. Was super fast as long as you went in a straight line. High speed turns or curves were an experience!
