Ya know....every now and then a build comes along and it just stands out. To me, this is one of those builds. From the detailing to the paint, to the weathering, to the scratchbuilding all the way down to the basic construction of this model....it is all so dang near perfectly done. One of the things that I do admire about you is the fact that you are most humble about your building talents and skills Terry. You've really built something that you should be proud of and I'm looking forward to seeing this one at the Nats as well as meeting up with you brother. See ya there,
Joe

Excellent finish! What unit markings are those? Obviously a Heer unit from the crew uniforms, and I know that one of the Heer Panzer Korps and the I SS Panzer Korps wore similar divisional markings at Kursk to throw off Soviet intelligence. I know the SS ones, as they are easy, but I always get the Heer divisions confused. I think that it was 6th Panzer, 7th Panzer and 11th Panzer divisions that wore the similar markings.

Terry, I have been following your builds for years here and on FB and this is definitely one of my favorites! Wish I can attend Nats so I can meet you and others in person finally. Hope to see you in Madison next year if you are going too.
Have fun in Texas and please take many pictures!

So the gentleman who filmed the video on YouTube can be found via YouTube search HobbyView Live at 2023 IPMS nationals
It is about 20 mimutes long and is taken early in the convention. To find this I did a YouTube search of IPMS 2023 NATIONAL CONVENTION. a few others have posted videos as well including Andy from Andys HHQ. Gonna watch that now. Hope this helps.

Terry, would you be willing to update your thread, or start a new thread about the judging of your Stug and what kept it from placing?

Terry, Your Stug is just flat out incredible. All the effort you put into this paid of in spades. You did a masterful job in your attention to detail as well as your paint and weathering. It really is a model to behold.

Ok let's play a game. It's called find the flaw. See if you can find the flaw that kicked this model out of the running. Hint it is in this picture.

If the judges are wigged out about the tiny scratch on the side fender then they need to look at the rest of the model. Honestly I still think that scratch is intentional given the rest of the OUTSTANDING weathering. Congrats on your other awards none the less. I have the Skoda RSO and shelved it due to some fit issues I need more patience for. Great thought on towing that heavy Das Werk trailer...beyond cool Terry.

At this level judging is bound to be at a high level as well. Just so you know how close things can be.

PLEASE NO!!!! I'M NOT A RIVET COUNTER!!! NOOO😥. It was only a guess and honestly I thought it was part of the weathering. It looks logical and " randomly" placed on purpose. I feel horrible for hitting it first time out, I don't want to be " that guy". Yes if one is going to compete at that level then the A+ game needs to be brought. I'm reconsidering 2024 , maybe just be a spectator/ vendor pirate.

At this level judging is bound to be at a high level as well. Just so you know how close things can be. I have never put a build in a show, so I can't speak to the level of how judging is at an IPMS event. But wow. I still think it is an incredibly great show of your skillset.

All you can do is bring it home correct the flaws and put it back in the game. This kind of judging makes for better modeling. You just need to take in stride and move on.

If the damage occurred in transit, that should not have been held against the build.
Just curious, but what paint type and brand did you use? Was it primed?

Interesting. Usually Tamiya is pretty hardy once it has cured.
