I have no idea! Something that came along after my time was done. It belongs to an artillery battalion HQ battery by the bumper codes, but beyond that... It's not part of the 8 wheeled HEMMT family that I'm familiar with, seeing how this has only 6 wheels on three axles. Might be part of the new 5 ton family that replaced the M54/M923 series.

Google image search thinks it's a M1089 And apparently grossly large and over engineered for it's mission. "The M1089 Wrecker is designed to recover vehicles in the 5 ton or less weight class" link

Another cool sighting at work today. This was in the hangar with the plane I was working on at 0-dark-thirty this morning.

Man, that 356 is gorgeous for sure. Always cool to see a Willys coupe and Beetles never get old.

I didn't know they were out in Europe yet. 2025 for the USA.
250 mile range 350 hp 4 wheel drive electric.
I don't need a van, but the ID Buzz sure looks appealing!

Was in SoCal this weekend and dropped by Planes of Fame. As luck would have it a Mosquito was there, and a young lady offered to take our picture with it.

It was nice watching them fly around few times for a veteran event close by while I was playing pickleball. I am not a wingy expert but I know those are pre WW2 biplanes. Can you please tell me what they are?

Can you please tell me what they are? Stearmans. They could have been actual trainers or civilian models painted up as such. They are indeed marked as prewar trainers but I believe they made and used these well into the 1950's. Still a pile of them around.

Yup...Boeing Stearmans. I used to have 2 of them that I worked on pretty regularly, one of which was a flying exhibit at Wings Over the Rockies museum in Colorado. Unfortunately, both of them have been ground-looped and were totaled in the last few years. Saw this on Friday while I was working at a remote airfield. They have a BD-5 jet mounted on a pole that they use as a weather vane. Took the picture while I was waiting for an Aviat A-1B Husky to show up. The Husky came from that same direction and landed in the grass on the field.

Can't say I've ever been lucky enough to see the second type of XKE driver. Speaking of XKEs, here's an XKE engine. Took the pic in a customer's hangar I was working in a couple of weeks ago. Pretty sure he falls into the "old guy" category. I was there to work on his 1955 Cessna 172...so old it has a venturi tube mounted on the side that runs the gyros. The pic is a thumbnail, so just click on it to see the full-size pic.

That's a 4.2 engine like I had in my 65 E Type. Much to my displeasure I have never found a model with that engine, they are all 3.8's as in pre 1965 cars.
