This is my rig at the ER on Christmas Eve. Brand new rig with what they call the "black out" package. No chrome anywhere.

Cars do very little for me...hell, I'm more excited about a Dodge Ram than any hot rod!!! In the wild... This little dude came in right under me while hunting. I told him to be careful, there's plenty of hunters that would happily shoot his tiny self! While doing "critter control" at my airport (I got two and my hunting partner got 2 as well) Had hers loaded up, and on the way to the other side to pick up my 2.... I guess the Air Force has made some budget cuts!!! For "warbirds"...we've got 2 T-34's, 2 T-6's, a Yak-52, T-28 and a pair of L-39's, based there. We've also got CHI (Construction Helicopters Inc), with a couple SeaKings, Casa 212's. They've had others there (Chinook, Puma, Huey) but I think they've based those elsewhere. The results of our "critter control"... I'd prefer to get em out in the real wild...but the ones we can't convince to exit through the gate, have to be "talked" into the truck. I have seen the aftermath of an airplane and deer trying to occupy the same space at the same time. It is MESSY...and expensive!

Love the 240Z! I've never been a Mopar guy, but I do like the AMX. It looks very well done. This was last fall at the Ice crean stand: 4 Tbirds out for an ice cream! Someone had better stock up on the Bleche-Wite! 😁

OK, TJ wins for the best wildlife area Gators!!!! I took that pic at Corkscrew Sanctuary. Its a boardwalk hike through the glades. Its really cool. Lots of swamp creatures. Gators, birds, baby gators, water moccasins. There is a YouTube video from a woman who saw a panther on the boardwalk itself.

Nice! Is that a SLR rifle? Thanks, Andy! Well, that's pretty close! It's an IMBEL FAL, a metric cousin of the inch-pattern SLR, built by a 'smith here in Texas. It was the first one that I had him build and is sort of my designated hog gun now. It works great for that purpose, but it really helps if you've got a rest. That rig is heavy, especially with a 20-round magazine. 😉 😃

In my cadet days I placed second, Canada wide, in the 300 yard competition with one.

A small part of me wants to have hogs here, but a big part of me is glad we don't...yet! I do hear rumors from time to time...and have even seen some "possible evidence" (rooted up area), that I could not confirm 100%. I'm sure we'll have em too, before too long.

I do hear rumors from time to time...and have even seen some "possible evidence" (rooted up area), that I could not confirm 100%. I'm sure we'll have em too, before too long. Oh, you will. There are two kinds of landowners here in Texas; those who have feral hog problems and those who will have problems. 😐
Nobody can shoot them fast enough to keep up with their birthrate. A hog's gestation period is 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days. You can sit your satchel down on that! And with good food supply, a sow can begin birthing as young as 6-10 months. With a litter of 6 piglets, even just half female, well, you can see how they increase exponentially: momma and the girls all pumping them out every 3-3-3. And there are plenty obliging, horny boars available with their essential assistance. 😁 Trapping (or shooting) large groups will deter them from visiting that area and they just move on to another feeding spot and of course, they will eat absolutely any and everything. They are so intelligent and relentless that they outcompete both whitetails and coyotes for the same resources. A friend once said he had read that pigs were the fourth most intelligent mammal...I guess that puts me at 5th or 6th, from the way they outsmart me! 😆 tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/wild/nuisance/feral_hogs/www.fredericksburgstandard.com/2023/11/15/report-texas-worst-feral-hog-problem-u-s/

Jeremy, these were taken in July of 2020. The rooting was really bad; they were digging for nutgrass "nuts". It took my pasture guy a lot of work to level that ground again. It took a big pig to s*** out a turd like this:

Gary, just curious, but what is the natural predator of those feral pigs? Wolves? Aside from food availability, nature usually has a predator as a way of keeping the animal populations in balance. And it sounds like whatever natural predator was there to do that for the pigs no longer exists.
