My bud, Chicken, taking up maximum bed space. It's a cat thing. He sadly left me in 2020, just as the pandemic was getting into high gear. He was the last of the four strays that blew into our yard in the early 2000's.

Losing a beloved pet is always hard. I know from a lot of experiance. Thanks, Yeah,it's hard, but the rewards of having known them makes it --- OK. With these two clowns its a whole 'nuther world, they have their own personalities which in no way shape or form can be confused with any that have gone before.

We have three cats, the youngest is Speedy, who showed in November of 2022 when he was about 8 inches long. Now he weighs 14 pounds. Ziggy would rather he would just disappear but Marina and Speedy like to have friendly wrestling matches. Which is pretty funny to watch because he's twice her size. Speedy recently and then as he showed up: Marina, owning the model bench: Ziggy in her favorite place, but strangely not snoring:

This is Princess loves to be pet but not picked up. She is now 15. Her meow sounds like a torture chamber. And her brother from the same litter. Jazz. He is the most lovable you'd ever meet. I call him Fuzzy. And finally Bella on the left. She is 8. My wife found her and Nucco on the right next to a dumpster at work. Sadly Nucco passed right after we moved to Florida. Can not not show Diesel with Princess. He was a mutt that my nephew found at the pound. When he left home Diesel stayed with his parents. His parents got divorced so Diesel went to my M-I-L who then moved in with us. So he had 4 owners and never left the family. He's been gone 3 years now. But he made it all the way to 16

...so modelers are a "normal pet" demographic? Interesting. I see adorable dogos and felines, plus one tortoise. But no lizards, tarantulas, snakes or piranhas. And no, despite my most recent kit purchases, which included a dinosaur and a big bug, I do not harbor any exotic creatures in my home!

And no, despite my most recent kit purchases, which included a dinosaur and a big bug, I do not harbor any exotic creatures in my home! I had water dragons and bearded dragons for many years. Had a turtle for 35 years. No spiders or snakes though as I could never afford the alimony that would create.

This thread seems to have gotten buried in the past and has not seen a post in some 4 mos. As such, given that we have several new members since, I figured I'd bump this up to the front. This a great thread and I really enjoy seeing other folks pets. So, if you have not already. please take the time share a pic or two of your pets. Especially if they are "helping" out at the bench.

Thanks for bumping this one up again! I’m going to have to upload some pet photos to my Imgur and make a post. We love pets of all kinds and We have rescued several cats and a dog the past decade. There is pet hair to be found in each one of my builds. Doesn’t bother me too much as it’s part of my life. Our dog passed a couple years ago so it’s just cats at the moment.

Alright, threw some pictures up. My phone is full of photos of about 3 things. My builds, real cars and race cars and our pets. Lol. First up is Khaleesi. She was found dumped in the woods with some kittens. The kittens quickly disappeared but no one wants adult cats. She is my main helper and always hangs around when I'm building. Brutus...He doesn't much care about modeling but he loves any boxes Erebus. He hangs out with me quite a bit too and sometimes battles Khaleesi for control of the boxes. Here you can see what he thought of the ancient Revell P-61 Clyde...he never comes around but does love open boxes if I happen to be washing a kit or leave a lid off somewhere. Open boxes only And our boy Simba. Lost him a couple years ago. He was half Saint Bernard and half Mastiff. Sweetest dog ever.

My Pixie-bob, Winston. Named him after Winston Churchill because of the facial expression. Winston and my dearly departed iguana, Audrey. Adopted her in 2003 from a local reptile rescue at the age of 3. In 2008, she got a spinal injury after a fall that left her paraplegic, so she required a little special care after that. Her and Winston were both my little cuddle buddies when I was recovering from surgeries, radiation, and chemo in 2019-2020. It was really cute...sometimes they would get jealous of each other and bicker over who got to cuddle with dad. Audrey usually won. LOL. She lived to the ripe old age of 21 years old, which is almost unheard-of for a female iguana. Had a huge male iguana also that passed away in 2018...just 3 weeks short of his 27th birthday. His name was Hercules, and I raised him from a weeks-old hatchling, starting in the early 90s. And here's Winston, giving the familial facerub of recognition to a fellow tomcat.

I was watching a Youtube video last night of some guy who bought an electric eel via mail! The only thing that really bothered me was that that poor eel was in a plastic bag, sealed in a cardboard box. I hope the eel gets really big and one day delivers a 600 volt jolt to his dopey owner! Good luck cleaning the tank. What's that? You got electrocuted? Yeah, it's an electric eel. They do that kind of stuff. Get a cat or dog instead - they just destroy furniture and nip at you. But some people just gotta have that kind of pet.
Coming up next: Boa constrictors with unattended toddlers - the perfect house pet?

I'm a firm believer in finding a pet to fill the void shortly after a loss.

So good of you to have adopted Khaleesi as an adult cat. So sorry that you lost Simba. I'm the cat person in our family while the wife is the dog person. Once my wife retires we have time to bring in older dogs to give them a good home in the twilight of their years. Thank You for sharing.

One reason we haven’t gotten another dog is just time issues. The cats can be somewhat self sufficient. And they’re a lot of work as it is too. Lol. Love your idea of caring for elderly dogs. I think that’s great.

Thanks Joe! Loved my iggies...extremely intelligent animals. Before her spinal injury, Audrey used to look forward to coming to work with me in the summer time. She'd wake up the same time I would, and as I was getting ready to leave, she'd leap onto me and climb up onto my shoulder. She loved the car ride, standing up on the passenger seat and looking out the window. I had a little heat lamp and towel set up for her so she could hang out with me...that is when she wasn't exploring the test benches, with supervision of course.
