Looking good! I had to do the same for my Panther as I decided not to use the metal barrel because it was complicated and the kit gun was done very nicely. I look forward to your next update! Hi all So I've been plodding on with this slowly. The main construction is almost complete, I've just got to finish one set of 'tracks'. As some of you may recall I like to take these simple quick build kits and add a bit of detail. To that end I've added some attachment points for some tow cables and some some weld seems on the main joins. To do this I added some 0.3 or 0.5mm stryene rod in the appropriate places and once the glue had dried, coated it again in TET and then left it for about 15 seconds to soften up, before rolling over it with a rough, round, needle file. It's probably a bit out of scale but it adds a bit of interest. Three out the four set of tracks are done. As you will have seen these are very simple one-piece affairs. The sprue attachment points were pretty chunky and, unfortunately, the two halves of moulds were not aligned properly, creating a step and a bit of seam line right around the tracks. To address this, I simply took a No. 11 blade and scraped it through 180 degrees in the dip to get the tracks even. I then sanded it down before 'painting' it with Humbrol's poly glue to smooth it all out. It's not perfect and obviously wouldn't pass muster on a display kit but for wargaming it's fine. The green bits you can see on the rear of the superstructure are little plastic tubes that will hold the radio antenna. All comments welcome as usual. Andrew ---------------------------------------------------------- My weld seems and a rear detail shotJust remember is was only £15 for the pair, so it won't set the modelling world alight! VERY simple tracks But at least I don't have worry about all those individual wheels or track links! As you can see quite bad misalignment but it looks ok in the end Tracks in place....just a dry fit.

WOW!! Man this is some teeny stuff that you're working with. The weld joins process is definitely gonna add the interest that you were talking about. Lotsa details getting some lovin' on this build Andrew. Coming along VERY nicely.

These are looking awesome Andrew. You weld seams look the part to me. Really nice touch there. Brilliant work on rectifying the sprue attachment points and mold lines on your tracks. They came out quite clean and impressive.

And the few parts that are there I would constantly break. Already working almost all the time with 2.3x magnifiers in 1/35, I'd have to switch to a microscope.

Joe and Armonutti, I am also a dedicated Braille Scale builder. I have built a couple 1/48 scale planes that I kept and at least one 1/35th scale tank for a group build of Pattons but overall, my entire collection of aircraft and armor can attest to the dedication I have to build exclusively in Braille Scale in those categories (as well as Real Space and Sci-fi)
Bring them on guys!

IMHO 1/72nd is only good for REALLYBIG airplanes....this is only my opinion. I however will second Carlos's GIF and stand tall with my big stuff... 35th baby Or the off end spontanous 1/16th purchase...don't want the stash to be underwellemed. All kidding aside that little Jagdpanther looks very cool, the clean molds and better engineering really brings the much afordable, storeable, and displayable kits up to a high standard. Model on Garth er Andy

That said I did enjoy my one and only 1/35 build so far and do have three have four others in the stash, including the RFM Firefly. We also have a member on British forum I am on that has built a 1/72 full working, radio controlled model from scratch of a recent Royal Navy Destroyer - sounds and turret rotates, as do the blades on the chopper on the back. it may only be 1/72 but it 8 feet long and has to be transported in two halves!!! Every time I look at what he has pulled off I just think we're dabbling at model making! All kidding aside that little Jagdpanther looks very cool, the clean molds and better engineering really brings the much afordable, storeable, and displayable kits up to a high standard. Good afternoon all So a bit more work on this yesterday afternoon and this morning, on the engine deck. The PE supplied as mesh for the various fans and vents wasn't up to the job, as the proportions were all wrong - unless it was meant to represent armour plates that I have seen mentioned, which were apparently fitted to protect them from damage from above. Instead I have used 18 count print screen mesh. I got some of this from an old member on here, Sean ( vindicareassassin ). Older members will recall that he was an absolute genius at 1/72 - amongst the best I have ever seen. As you will hopefully see below, it does look very good....and if not absolutely perfect scale wise, a vast improvement on the supplied PE. But as you will also see, I have not quite finished it. ATB Andrew --------------------------------------------------------------- So the supplied PE compared to the Mesh
...it may not look like it but there are holes in that PE. The white squares you can just see are the cutting matt 1cm squares. Initial piecesI actually did more rectangles than needed, so I could choose the best ones And in place (mostly)Not perfect but hopefully ok from a distance.

Thanks again all for the support. So the last update for the weekend, with me attempting the tow cables. Not used these before but all in all very impressed. Copper is very soft and easy to bend as you wish, although I did have to very carefully make the holes a bit bigger. I did make the cables a bit shorter too, maybe a bit too short but I can make them work. Thanks again! ATB. Andrew

They work pretty well don't they. Also think they would work for the mesh schürzen that was seen later in the war. I have a stall Pz IV Ausf H to J conversion I am working on that might be a likely candidate. Thanks again. Andrew

Good evening all from the right hand side of the 'pond'! So I think I will call the build stage done on this. I have finished off the mesh on the engine decks and added the mesh surrounds. Not perfect but they will do. I have also added support brackets for the tow cables (these are currently only very loosely fitted). I only have one pair so and so one will eventually go without for the time being. As and when I have to place an order with the shop that stocks them - as I will no doubt have to do at some point - I will add another pair to the cart. I have made sure they can be added in the future. The additions are meant to be a homage to the Jagdpanther, not exact replicas of specific vehicles - so you will have to forgive me for the inaccuracies. I will properly attached one of the cables prior to painting, as one picture I have seems to show it was in place when the camo was applied. The other one will get attached after the painting to add a bit of variety/interest. All comments welcome as usual. All the best. Andrew

Very nice touch adding the mesh and I look forward to see them painted next! It looks like I am in same situation with you... should I go ahead and glue the tow cable to the hull before it is painted or not? Sometimes glue doesn't stick to the painted surface and it is always my biggest concern.
