Sorry I haven't posted more pix of my build, haven't been feeling well the last week or so. I will get more stuff up very soon. Building interior is alot of fun...also very slow for me. I try to sort out subassemblies to best provide coverage of paint without the waste of painting something unseen. Interesting and time consuming. The efforts are sorth it though. Also lots of detail that reall doesn't seem to show as progress in photos. Sonoma Cal. NASCAR today....all in to get stuff done.

Been awhile since I've updated my thread. My apologies, some lazy, some a bunch going on....anyway, I'm thinking that in the essence of getting a project done I might build this with all the interior detail provided however doing the inside " naked". Never building a full interior there is a crrtuan order of progression, sub assemblies, paint, assemble, mask, paint again..... and I'm kinda hung up in the nitty gritty. I fully want to do the guts for the experience but I also want this kit on my shelf. I see it done and it looks cool, AND the inside is hidden behind very small hatches. I have never been a huge fan of cut aways or " clear" panels, to me it distracts from the overall finished priduct...KUDOS to those who can pull it off, I'm not there yet. So here's hoping I make more visual progress and get my hinney back in the game. Sorry such a babbling post and thanks for reading.

Yeah it’s your build and you can do whatever works best for you. I am with you about not spending too much time with the interior if you are not planning to keep it visible.
We still got time… GB ends in December I hope! LOL

Even if you plan on having all hatches open, I’d say just go with the basic interior colors painting and leave it at that. No need for excessive detailing and weathering that will slow you down.

You're all good Perry. I'm just lookin' forward to some more progress on this one bud. I hear you on hidden details, unless the whole hull is going to be lifted off of the bottom, it'll never get seen.

And now you see the problem with full interior kits...if you're modeling an intact vehicle all your work disappears at some point. I have the Takom Panther A with interior in the stash that I have a plan for and that'll probably be the last interior I do as I think the extra effort does not really add anything to the model if you can't see it.
You can always block up the hatches with figures

So some progress, made a boo boo on the torsion bars. They are supposed to be glues to each outter bulkhead the fished thru the stiffeners on the floor, whelp, I didn't notice this fact and got ahead of myself. My fix was to cut the offending end off, attatch thru stiffeners then mount the right hand torsion bars to the bulkhead and sandwiched everything together. I will probably follow advice from reserve and Stik, and others and simply shoot red primer, brush the transmisdion box a grey or black and call it good. All those cool details...plumbing, torsion bars, etc. will be buried under floor boards anyway. More later, thanks for looking.

The one thing I hope for is I make minor mistakes on this kit, so perhaps I won't hit the same pitfalls while working on my 1/16 King Tiger.

Yeah, but you recovered it and that's the important part. I have never completed the perfect model there's always something...

I have been there with getting things out of kilter many times Perry. Sounds like you've got a good plan in moving forward that won't affect the build.

Whew, ALOT going on in there. Finished the lower hull interior sans placement of engine, very tight squeeze. Shame all that detail will be buried however I'm learning my plan of attack for the next interior build I tackle...1/16 King Tiger. The Takom kit is INCREDIBLEY detailed and a bit " fiddily" however with care an amazing representation can be achieved. This build could do with paint and weathering which woukd REALLY make details pop.....what you could see any way. Thanks for looking in and stand by for more .

Great work on all of that intricate assembly Perry. Man, that is indeed a whole lot of busy going on in there. So, are you going to go ahead and paint the entire interior despite that most of it will be unseen?

Thanks Joe, yea I'm waffling on the paint...however closer to the finish line I get the more I think I might be able to pull off a reasonable splash of interest under the harches. Be a real shame to put all that effort and not finish the lesson. After all this is in preperation for furure full interior builds awaiting me in the stash.

Oh that’s sweet! That engine is much nicer than what the Italeri kit provides.

No doubt Carlos, I'm very impressed with the amount of detail they packed into this small of a kit. It is 1/35th but still. My Trumpy King Tiger in 1/16 I think has lumps of plastic where the magnetos are on the engine...this kit not only could I identify them by shape a fella could almost wire them if he had the patience. My best guess is 30-35 parts just for the engine.

WOW! It is really looking nice and very detailed! I have read about Takom kits and they can be hit or miss and I don't have one in my stash. But after following your build I am impressed so far. Keep rocking!

It is with heavy heart and shame to say that this kit kicked my butt...for now. I tried today to finish up interior, was going to go " naked" just to finish. Somewhere along the assembky line stuff started to warp, not fit as designed, and just became cluncky to work on. I really look forward to using this experience to improve a few other full interior kits I have. For now this one became un fun. My apologies Tojo, a kit of this magnatude in this scake requires more tume, patience, and effort than I can give right now. On a good side bar I have a BUNCH of really nice spare parts to convert or upgrade a future project. Still looking forward to my BSGB in January, hope others are too.

That's tough, the fit and engineering for those interiors need to be just right or problems results, good try.
