Be careful or you will make Judge Judy mad again! Nah, I recall you usually have very busy summers so I figured you will be back eventually. Unfortunately you have to go thru hundreds of threads since so much was happening during your absence! Good to have you back and get busy!

Real life does tend to get on the way sometimes. I’ve been hit or miss on the Vette I’m been working on for the last few months. Hopefully I can get started on the chassis soon.
Looking forward to seeing you back on this one Marc

Unfortunately you have to go thru hundreds of threads since so much was happening during your absence! Good to have you back and get busy! Man, tell me about it! I'm going to have to take a day to just go back through the last ten pages or so. Yikes. This week promises to still be a bit sketchy - the tourists haven't left yet. I'm close, though!!

Whoah, I'm back! Finally got some time to paint. This kit has been sitting in a box on my bench since June 10th. I love my job, but the no-time-to-model thing all summer is not the best. SO. Primed yesterday: Basecoated today: Trying to remember my plan re: painting order and track construction. That was quite a while ago. 🤔😆

I think I need to paint the camo, separate the hulls, assemble/paint the tracks, and then button up the hull halves. That's the plan! Here's the scheme I'm going with:

I just caught up with this, that dark prime coat really makes the detail on this stand out great! I am looking forward to seeing how you lay the camo on this

I hope to learn a few things here to help with the Bandai Panther G I'm doing for this build. Total newbie, the only two tanks I have done are an M74 conversion and a Bandai T-34. No German stuff at all. And all the color info on the Bandai instructions is in Japanese

I had hoped to get both of the camo colors down - but I was trying to keep everything nice and tight, and my index finger needs a break after an hour in the booth! Base color was XF-88 dark yellow 2, this first camo color is LP-57 red brown 2 (I find the Tamiya lacquers can be sprayed "neater" for small applications). It's kind of an odd color...I thought it was green at first? Of course, I'm colorblind, which doesn't help. And the finished product looks solid! I hope to get the green down tonight after I get my bike ride in. Will update!

Lacquer Painto! The green is LP-56. This is my new favorite for German armor green. The shade just looks right, and it sprays like butter. Need to put the "ambush" dots next - I think they're going to have to be hand painted. Too small to spray reliably.

Great to see you back at it Dupes. What terrific paint work on your camo. Looks dead on to me. I've just recently picked up the Tamiya LP colors for German armor and I'm really encouraged by your success with it. I'm curious about your approach to painting the wheels. Did you paint them all black and then just pain the outer wheel dark yellow? If so, that's a very unique approach. Thanks for posting some progress as it definitely giving some motivation to get going on mine.

Yes sir - rattlecan flat black on all of the roadwheels, circle template the dunkelgelb, then use the same circle templates for each of the camo colors.
Lacquer Painto is the bomb!

Yep, looking good! The camo and colors came out very well. I'll have to check the Tamiya LP colors a bit more. I have 5 basic colors like black, white and silver to play with. I bought the AK Real Color late war versions for my Jagdpanther. I am thinking that line by AK is very similar to the Tamiya LP series. (colors notwithstanding)
And there's something about that dark yellow base coat over a dark primer that looks oh-so-good. It makes me want to just do a plain DY one every time.

Well sprayed Marc. If I may ask what are you using to thin your paint? For the XF basecoat, I used the Tamiya thinner with retarder (I can't remember the code right now?). For the LPs I did a 50/50 mix with Mr.Levelling Thinner.

Duuuuuupes! That looks AWESOME! I can't believe you painted that all freehand. It came out GREAT! That is the magic of the Lacquer Painto. Thin it down, take your time, get close. No splatters, no overspray. Butter!

I did the same thing starting with half a dozen "basic" colors. I didn't think there was any reason to duplicate things I had in the XF range. I was wrong! I don't have the entire LP line yet, but close. I did use some AK Real on a build this spring - it's pretty similar, but not exactly. Maybe it's just thicker out of the bottle, and I didn't account for that?

Rattlecan flat black, circle template the color.

Nice D that's a difficult pattern on a small 1/48 build. Think yer right about ambush spots with the hair stick I've never found a better way...just keep the paint thin and it'll be fine
