Doing the slow boring work on the pylons, weapons and drop tanks. The detail is a little soft so I'm doing a little rescribing and riveting.

Your hard work rescribing those soft details will pay off at the end! What did you use to cover the seams on the gas tanks? I assume Mr Surfacer primer or something like that?

Thank you guys for turning me onto that stuff.

Nice sir. I did one of these awhile back and still remember the mousetraps present in it...now you've inspired me to try it again so a visit to the LHS and one is now in the lineup. Your fault, you know...

Your fault, you know... Glad I could help! These really are great kits for the price. The pitfalls are the same for most Super Hornet kits, the intakes and the nose. But I feel it's not that bad really.

Got the landing gear, doors and wheel wells painted today. Should be able to prime stuff and get to the real painting soon.

Been awhile since I checked in on your progress. Glad I did as you have done some really nice work moving forward. The rescribing and riveting sure is an improvement and nicely done. I see that you mentioned using a black marker on the seams to check for blemishes. Good practice. I have always used a silver paint pen as silver really shows up divots. It also really helps to see after some light sanding.

Man you're really flyin' through these now Mike! I've been building for a while now and don't seem to be able to crank anything out any faster than 4 months. Detailed builds.....well....you're lookin at 7-8 months on average right there. Good show so far bud.

Well.........These were actually started back in 2020. But I've had a lot of crap happen (working in the front lines of Covid, moving, loss of two dogs, wife had 2 surgeries, my father passed away) in the last three years that have stalled everything till last year. But I've been on roll lately especially after Nationals.

Sorry that there hasn't been any updates as of late. I've been busy with work and last Friday had very minor surgery that restricts me from doing much at all for a week.

This is what happens when you go on a priming binge. All of the Super Hornet stuff is primed and a lot of the A-4 Skyhawk stuff is also primed. Hope to get more painting done soon.

So one of the marking choices that I wanted to do was the CAG jet of VFA-151 Vigilantes. Unfortunately it calls for Chrome Yellow. Model Master had that color but since they're discontinued, I couldn't get it. Vallejo Model Air has one but I don't like them for airbrush work. I checked and I had a bottle of AK Real Air Color Yellow. I checked and it looks close enough.

Good to see you back on this project Mike. The masking process can be so time consuming and is one of the areas of a build that I end up stalling out at. Good on you for bringing these back.
