I thought this was a great idea for a thread so I thought I'd jump in with my various and sundry interests. Automotive: This is what I build most of and choosing one was certainly very difficult. I decided to go with a Christmas build I did for my father-in-law of his 69 RS/SS. I spent a lot of time trying to replicate his car as closely as I could and his happiness with the gift makes this one of my most favorite builds ever. A photo of the model and the car it's based on. Subcategory-race car: I had to post at least one...This Sauber C9 from Tamiya was a pleasure from start to finish and I'd build another one tomorrow. Big rig: While not exactly a big rig, but more of a straight truck, this build of the ancient Monogram lumber truck is one of my all time favorites as well. It is the recent Atlantis rebox. Just had a blast with it. Real sticks cut up on the back for the load and weathered as a newer truck but one that had done at least a days work. Painted like a restored version I found photos of online Motorcycle: I've only ever built one...The Tamiya Monkey. And it was a joy. Definitely have designs on building more of them. Aircraft: Every now and then I want to build something that flies. Preferably something with pistons. I do have one jet in my stash that I'll get around to sometime. This is the Revell-Germany newish tool 1/72 Avro Shackleton. I believe this was my 3rd aircraft? And the first one I ever built seriously and tried to make look really right. Learned a ton on this build and it remains one of my favorites, although it is huge and I still don't know what to do with it. 😂 Sci Fi: I believe this is the last of the different categories I have built so far. Although eventually I'll try my hand at armor and ships. Eventually. Only sci fi build so far was the excellent Bandai X-wing. A beautiful kit that I just weathered and built as a generic red squadron X-wing. great fun. And for my 1:1 toys...another Silverado. Bone stock '87 we've had for about 12 years now. Nothing special and soon will be in need of some body work but still a good old truck. And this 95 Impala SS I have owned since high school. Currently out of commission with a dead LT1 distributor. The bane of their existence. But I plan on having it back on the road soon. Those are all super fantastic. We have very similar tastes. I currently have the Sauber C9 on the bench and would love to work on it, but my back is up to its old tricks so building is on hold. Great work on all of those and love those Square bodies.

Kyle. I blew a head gasket on the LT1 Trans Am. While it was apart for head work did the distributor (stupidest design ever) and the water pump. Runs better then ever.

I would consider LS swapping it but I’m much too stupid myself. This will be my 3rd distributor and water pump since 2006. Head gaskets have been done as well. Re-tapped the holes in the block to clean everything up for the water pump this time and will put it all together again. Hopefully it last for a few more years. 🤦🏻♂️🤣

Reserve, what kits are those? I presume that the B-17 is the classic Monogram kit, but the rest of them?

The dios are wonderful as well. I think I have that mine plow in the stash if it's the Tamiya M1 with plow.

S yeah it's the Revellogram 1/48 B-17G. The F-104 is 1/48 and from Hasegawa and was nothing short of splendid to assemble, perhaps an inch of the lower fuselage seam needed filling and shaping. Not so much with the M1 A1, this is the Cyberhobby 1/35 orange box. While the molding of the parts is pretty good the fit was awful, the kit supplied length and link tracks were unusable...I could go on but you get the idea. I did do a build log on this, it was about 11 years ago I think. The halftrack is Trumpeter's Gepanzerte with the old Tammy Flak 37 in 1/35th with one MiniArt vaccuform building and another scratched from foam. I don't recall where the figures came from specificaly, probably a mix of Dragon, Masterbox, and MiniArt.
Thank you for the nice comments gents

First of all,my favorite type of modeling would be 1/35 armor of all eras, all type of 1/48 military aircraft, and 1/350 ships. As far as my favorite builds, this small 1/35 dio with Tamiya's JS-2 in Berlin is up there. For aircraft this GWH Mig-29 is one of my favorites My favorite ship build was an OOB build of the 1/350 Akagi,so detailed,I was really happy with it,a very interesting ship design Sorry,no pics of it,my phone pics just don't do it justice.

That Silverado looks REALLY good as well. Throttle body injected engine or 4 barrel? That generation Impala SS was something I always loved. Couldn’t pass it up when I got the chance to get one. It has been an absolutely magnificent money pit. Wouldn’t get rid of it for anything. 😂. The Silverado, of course still has the good old TBI fuel injection. Probably makes at least 18 horsepower. 🤣 seriously though, it is basically all original and still runs pretty good despite not having any balls. My 85 3+3 has a good old fashioned Holley on it though. 👌🏻

Great builds everybody!!! I meant to post mine but it kept slipping my mind. I build armors and figures/busts pretty much... My favorite figure/bust is the 17th Century Polish Hussar by Young Miniatures... I had NO idea that you did figures Andy!! WOW man!! That looks brilliant!! Heck yeah.....I'd be happy with that too!!

I had NO idea that you did figures Andy!! WOW man!! That looks brilliant!! Heck yeah.....I'd be happy with that too!! LOL! Yeah I have painted only four busts since my return. My last work was US GI at Bastogne by Young Miniature too and i had fun with this one.
I have many busts in my stash but I haven't found the mojo to work on them yet.

Holy smokes!!! The bust look amazing. I hope to get to that level someday. Your armor diorama is even more stunning. Some modelers have that gift of being well-rounded. Able to do more than just one subject at a very high-level. You sir are at that level. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Chris
