I have waiting for this pearl for a long time and I finally got one. I plan to do this in the rare Ford factory "medium Yellow Gold" with black interior. I already had obtained the paint from MCW. In my opinion Mustangs don't look good in yellow but these are the exception. Follow along!

Now THIS......I'm definitely looking forward to. For all of you guys who don't know Gil and the way he builds.......you are all in for a great treat on watching this one come together. The lengths that he goes to in order to turn out a true gem of a model are nothing short of amazing. SO looking forward to seeing this one come together as I've heard nothing but good things about this kit.

I know less than zero about military subjects. Anything I’ve heard comes from a couple model building Podcasts I listen to. The Yamato has been mentioned several times and it’s cool to put a picture to the name. It must have been quite the undertaking hauling that ship out of the Japanese harbour and mounting it on the base. ;^) Pretty amazing work mrversatile

John, is that yours, 2012 or 13? Isn't that grabber orange or did they call it "School bus Yellow?" Either way, she is a beauty. I really meant the older Mustangs don't look good in yellow. Here's mine:

Here's mine: That's kind of the way I feel about it. The newer ones look good in yellow, the classis ones outside of these however.....not so much. Got your thread moved to the Group Build as per yesterdays conversation Gil. Glad to have you aboard.

Man.....that MCW color lays down smoooooooooooooth especially with the lacquer thinner that you turned me on to last year. The only thing I didn't care for initially about MCW colors was the cobwebbing effect out of the airbrush but that thinner took care of that. Your car body looks GREAT man.

John, the color is Ford Medium Yellow Gold. No I don't track the car. I track it on the highway when the traffic is sparse...lol. I don't know what you mean by vroom...I am the second owner so if it was something offered at the dealer I didn't have the opportunity.
So Joe, you did use that thinner? Makes all the difference. Just remember to wait longer in between coats.
While looking at the decals and the instructions it seems like there could be some difficulty regarding the black accents and the surrounding pinstriping if one wishes to paint the black instead of using the decals "as is." I plan to use matte black but the decals have the pinstripe and part or all of the black. The issue if using matte black is that the decal part will be seen in a different sheen.
Also, I am leaning toward a "ginger" colored interior as opposed to the more common black. I saw a car with this color combination and would probably be how would order the car.

Great choice of paint color!!! Looking forward to more... I wasn't fan of Mustangs until my oldest son got his several years ago. Sometimes I would steal it for a joyride to my office when he doesn't need it so you definitely have my attention!

I'm going to use it on the Corvette build Gil. Dude.....if there's one thing I learned at the Nats.....I no longer will leave things be if I have to say "That'll be ok" or "I think I can get by with that." . There ain't NO margin for error with the talent that I saw at that place. Not one of mine placed. The winners paint jobs were just better....period. Gonna be upping my game from here on out.

One thing I do which put my builds up a level is when I'm happy with an assembly or the body or interior, I snap a few good photos of it. I find a lot of things that are not seen when it's being built show when viewed on the "big Screen". It seems to eliminate things as the builder you miss or say it's fine. Any way it works for me.

Ok, a small update here. I have completed the front and rear grills and fascia respectively. With regards to the front grill, if you would note that the surrounding bezels of the headlights are semi gloss black with the trim immediately surrounding the headlights themselves are picked out in chrome. This was a topic brought up in the modelcarsmag forum when it was noticed on some recent builds that the builders were painting the bezels chrome. This is in error and results in the headlights looking too large. The Chrome trim was hand painted with MOLOTOW ink and I highlighted the grill with a gray colored pencil. A note on the rear fascia and taillights: These are really well rendered if you look at some 1:1 pics. The bezels are black with chrome trim. These were also picked out with MOLOTOW ink. One has to be careful but when neatly done, it really pops. Finally, I included a picture of my intentions with the wheels. These are the standard Ford hub caps with trim rings in resin I had obtained from Fireball Modelworks. I also found some old "Firestone Wide Oval" dry transfers by SHABO.
