Really excellent paint, weathering and chipping. Nice technique you have there for the chipping. It's all looking good to me Clint. Stellar work.

The weathered look is awesome looking! Great tip about the sanding sponges, I will be grabbing some in the near future.

The paintwork is excellent. The primer showing with some bare metal is great

Got the paint on. I had some paint peel on the bottom. I had masked it off with yellow frog tape detacked on the back of my hand like I always do but still got some paint lift. Luckily it was a easy touch up. After all three colors was put down I with some lighter and darker shades mixed for the sea blue, I stared chipping the wings. I didn't like the first attempt so I scrubbed it all off, repainted and tried it again and while not 100% satisfied I'm calling it good enough so I can get this done for the GB. Thanks for checking it out! SKOL! Oooooh, tasty! The aluminum/primer chipping looks spot on.

Thank you all very much! I was worried about making it over done, the first attempt was way to much

This kit has been nothing but a headache since reaching the painting stage. I had decided that I didn't want to risk more paint lift so instead of vinyl masks I will just use the extremely thick Tamiya decals. So I gave the entire model a acrylic gloss clear coat, I covered it up then came back about a hour later to see that the clear coat had ate away at the underlaying paint. Since I still want my money back for the kit by completing it for the IPMS GB, instead of just putting it aside or seeing how hard I could throw it into the wall, I got out the rubbing alcohol and stripped it down to plastic and gave it a light sanding with 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper. Still with so much paint that has been put on the top of the wings they look awful. \ I started painting again from the beginning. Black preshade, all black where the Aluminum will be, Alclad Aluminum, hairspray, Mr. color Zinc Chromate, chipping, more hairspray, then the 3 tone camo followed by more chipping then a gloss coat again with a new bottle of clear. Now I'm applying these thick decals from Tamiya, this will be going straight into the trash after the meeting

This is interesting as i never had any luck with MIG Heavy chipping other than with MIG paints so maybe i need to try hairspray. I use MRP and MIG chipping didnt like that at all.
I have had paint problems like you and now stick to one brand and give every coats 48 hour which seems to help.

I stick to the same type, Tamiya, Mr. Color and AK Real color all thinned with Mr. Leveling thinner. The paint had sat for a good four days before I sprayed the gloss, not sure why it reacted this way.

Now that is weird about the paint reaction after reading that you've got your painting method and painting materials standardized for you. Sorry to hear about your troubles with the build when it's at this late in the building stages Clint. What is it about Corsair builds that fight us all the way through? lol. I had a Corsair that I built for a friend some years ago that fought me all the way to the bitter end. In my defense....it was a Revell kit.

Aw Dang! That is a hellacious bummer. It appears to me that you made one decent recovery of it though.

That sucks huge! Sorry you had a glitch this massive right near the finish line. Looks like you are persevering and I have no doubt you will get this one to the end and it will look great.

Another guy is building a Corsair and he's on his 3rd fight with the decals, this time around for him the decal softener has peeled the paint. It does seem like the Corsair is cursed

Oh no!!! So sorry that you had to deal with the setbacks! Yeah, I am with you that I just want to get my money back so let's push it across the finish line and use the money to buy another kit. LOL
We can make up a cool story that my IDF Humvee shot your Corsair down by mistake!!! But I am not too sure if I can finish mine by Friday. Just got home from nine days trip and I am feeling so tired!

Doggonit, that bites, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a testing session may be in order, but not on a Corsair, right? It's more than frustrating to get that far to have it all go south. It appears to be the hazard of the Sport, sometimes it doesn't work as advertised. Hang tough!
