Hi all, so the feeler garnered enough interest for me to go ahead and see how bad I can muff up a group build. As the title implies this is for anybody who wants an excuse to dig the big model out of your stash and test your skills. Guide lines: Auto: 1/16 or larger Armor: 1/25 or larger ** EXCEPTION** Squadrons, or anyone brave enough to buy the 1/35 Dora. Aircraft: 1/32nd or larger **1/35 aircraft are currently rare and do not neccessarily fall into " normal" common aircraft scales. AIRCRAFT UPDATE: 1/48 Three or more engines. Figures: you guessed it 120mm and larger. Sci-Fi: while this is difficult to set a rule on as most subjects are ficticious a recommendation is 1/350 or larger. I think I can allow anything bigger than 1/72 without incuring to much grief. Gundam: I don't know much about scale for this genre however I have seen some amazing and HUGE kits, **builder judgement required** Scratchbuilt: obviuos by now This BSGB will commence January 2nd 2024 and will continue until December 30 2026. Even the slowest of us should be able to make progress in that amount of time. Fresh kits are suggested however limited subassemblies or VERY MINIMAL painting will be allowed. Participants may build as many kits as they like and are free to detail by whatever means or medium they are comfortable using. Participants are asked to post pictures or atleast written details as their builds progress. This is a VERY LOW STRESS GB however all want to see progress. The next post will be the placeholder post where I can list folks and builds, I will update this periodically, someone may have to guide me if a progress thread is required. ** REMEMBER** This is more of a marathon than a sprint and is intended to be fun, skill streching, and educational....tips, techniques for big stuff, etc. So here we go and kick off is only a couple months away. Added by Admin: Create a build thread for your build here: modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/board/230/big-stuff-group-build-bsgb

For reference I'm in with a 1/16 Trumpeter MRAP my son in law gave me a couple years back. He rode around in one in Afghanistan with the 10th mountain division.

Fun idea. I’ve never built anything bigger than a 1/20 scale F1 car (which aren’t very big) or a 1/48 scale airplane (also not very big) so I will tentatively plan to jump in here.
Bandai/Entex 1/16 1908 Rolls Royce Balloon car. Also maybe AMT 1/16 ‘57 Ford Thunderbird
I say tentatively because who knows what stash adds will happen between now and then, so I may alter course.

Thank you for your interest, I'll hold off placing your name "kyledehart5" until you are sure of what your gonna start with . Remember you can build more than one .

I think I’d for sure start with the 1908 Rolls Royce. You can put me down for that one. Just thinking for a second build you never know when I might decide to get a 1/12 scale F1 kit or something. Lol. I’d anticipate doing more than one depending on how the first one goes.

I have the old Esci 1/12 scale F-104 cockpit in the stash. Would this be admissible for this GB?

Cool! Believe it or not I don't have anything that big in my stash except for few 1/48 bombers and 1/350 ships but I do have couple of resin figures in 1/16 that I want to work on. For now you can put me down for Alpine 1/16 figures until I choose the next victim. Thank you for doing this!

I forgot I had the 1/12 F-104 cockpit kit. Italeri re-released so they're around. They also just re-released the F-16 cockpit which is on my wish list.

This will be a great group build! I want to participate but I don't have any kits in the large scales and I have so many kits in my stash that I want to build next.

A good friend of mine scratch built a Ratt, in 72nd scale. VERY LARGE model in it's own right. While it does not align with the " scale" aspect of this GB, I will add you to the roster Chaos as those monsters are pretty cool. Welcome

Hi guys, looks like we are getting some really interesting subjects involved in this " massive" group build. I am going to start for bookmark purposes a WIP thread and a Finished project thread. Hopefully this will simplify and help keep our adventures organized and easier to follow. I would like to keep this thread as a roster/ banter forum. Only a few more months before kickoff of this GB so dig, find, buy, or open your hoard and jump in to the longest most massive group build in the history of modeling. Ok maybe exaggerating a bit but it is gonna be HUGE.

Against my better judgement,I'm in,it is a year long so that lessens the pressure,I'll give it my best shot.
