I have hardwood and it eats almost as much as the carpet used to. Lol I think that’s the Ping Monster. It roams the hard floors in all work areas. They do cohabit carpeted rooms, and some have theorized that it partners with the Carpet Monster in some sort of symbiosis. I have lost a little salamander and a stainless steel landing strut to the Ping and Carpet Monsters. When I recarpeted my room, neither were found. Proof positive that these mythical creatures do indeed exist, and feed on wayward model parts!

Yeah, 25 years is waaaay too long to wait to recarpet!

Yeah, I have experienced that most recently. I'm building a 1/35th Polish TKS tank for a commission for a friend and had just finished the exhaust pipe assembly. I tried to test fit it to see where and how it goes on and it fell out of my hands, dropped straight down and hit my shoe. I saw it hit my shoe. When I moved and tried to look for it; it was no where to be found. It is not a small part; yet it thoroughly disappeared. And no, I removed my shoes and checked to see if it slipped inside, and it did not. Heck, something that big I would have felt inside my shoe, and I didn't feel anything! Now I cannot finish this commission and cannot get paid until I find a way to either get another kit or find someone who has the kit and is willing to send me the three parts that make up the exhaust system.

Pinched this off FB. This is absolutely hilarious. I actually often find a number of my larger lost parts because they will eventually appear as toy being batted across the floor by my cat. She is a magical locator.

She is a magical locator. I have the same locating system. Just the other day she found the left header to my Flathead that had magically disappeared. It was painted white and still managed to disappear entirely.

Yeah, 25 years is waaaay too long to wait to recarpet! If those parts do show back up with new carpet, that will help prove my wormhole theory. I think that dropped parts fall into a wormhole near the floor and sometimes end up jumping forward in time. The only way you find them again is when you finally catch up to them in time. That's when you notice something out of the corner of your eye and find the part in plain sight. Spooky. The truth is out there.

Pretty sure my cat is the cause of many a disappearance. I have managed to totally lose a whole hood for a '69 Dart and have little doubt it is in a toy stash in some inaccessible to humans area. I just need to wait it out until it becomes a favourite again and reappears.

Our cats are always randomly pulling something out that they haven't touched in two years. lol

We are cat free at the moment, however the wife ....i kinda....want a couple of Maine Coons. I imagine they will either scare the heck out of the carpet monstrr or simply haul off the whole model. Build big guys then you can watch the " paranormal" in real time

Build big guys then you can watch the " paranormal" in real time Perry, Maine Coon cats have an extra toe, all the better to steal more parts! A friend had two - it was hilarious watching them go through the pet door. They would slow down, center themselves, and then squeeeeeeze through the opening with a *FOOP!* You know, we never really know what the carpet monster looks like. Some have made illustrations or models of how they might appear, but until someone actually catches one, no one really knows for sure. The carpet monster surely ranks up there at the top of the modelling cryptid list, right alongside the Farley Fruitbat. And the 100% accurate model that is totally buildable. And no, it's not Tamiya.
