Aiden, thanks for the big 'up' my friend, welcome aboard ChrisS , at one stage there stepping on it and spilling the paint would have been a better plan! ;D Mr Scratch, cheers for stopping by boss, I'll need your help very soon ;D On with the update, I've given her a base coat of 60% matt off white, 30% semi-gloss light ghost grey and 10% metallic silver. the idea was to give it a slight sheen with a trace of metallic silver. The result was none of the above ;D ( But using the golden rule of blogging provided by Dicky...) but that was EXACTLY what I really intended ;D So, silly question #2 - should I add more colour modulation now or move to the first hairspray coat. Silly question #3 - when would you suggest i add the engine and canon... in other words, bits that rust? Comments welcome as ever

I can only say wow mate
and no silly questions here ^^: first one: I'd say yes and no: yes because I like CM, no, because of the use of the HS method the previous cm will probably very subtle visible
second one: rusty bits are always cool, so go crazy! ;D
Keep it up mate, lovely stuff!
edit: where's silly question number one? I'm only seeing two and three ;D
Cheers

Hi ya Steve...Wouts has it right. There is a subtle difference if you HS now..nothing wrong with adding more depth!....The 2nd...err yeah, 2nd question is yup! Something to rustify would add some flare!! Was talking to Mr. S about bringing one of mine out of the closet after a couple years....190 that is! A project I started off a couple pics I got from my grandfather. Crappy old picture but might give you a visual of how the engine parts might look. She is looking great...keep at her!! It's giving me thie inspiration!! ;D

Hi Wouter Hi Mr T thanks for the info I think I'll add a bit of CM to this then a HS coat using the same colour but lightened a little. That should give some depth to the corroded aluminium effect. I'll move to the engine and cannon while I wait for that lot to harden off. Nice '190 Mr T, I'm sure I've seen a pic of the actual airframe while searching the Internet for pics to help my build. Wouter' Silly Q#1 was much earlier in the thread... you're right, I'll drop the numbers!

Sorry, been trying to comment but get booted each time. This is turning out really cool. T is giving some great advice , and he's done a couple of these wrecked wingies before. Don't worry too much about the CM, it's what you do after that makes the difference. I'd get the plane painted and weathered, then add the engine and other rustable components. This way you can build up the layers of weathering.

firstly, sorry for the delay in updates, I've only had access via my phone and it's sloooooowwwww plus no picture upload Thanks for the advise Mr Scratch, taken it and have painted the main airframe, once it's dry I'll move it to where I can photo it. MF72' , cheers for dropping in and the kind words... all support gratefully received On the paining, had a really strange thing happen... I used Revell Aqua Color and their thinner / retarder my lad has for his Warhammer kits, or at least I tried to... within seconds of mixing the two in the ratio given by Revell it turned to jelly in the airbrush and cup! Never seen anything like it.... really weird Took me an hour to clean the AB and switch to Tamiya. Post some build pics tomorrow. TTFN

OK then, still making slow progress on this build. Took the advice of those here who know far more than me and started adding the final colours to the airframe. Here's what I did... 1 -give it a coat of HS 2- a once over with an RLM76 mix of light blue and grey. 3- scrub down to wear the paint. 4 - give it a coat of HS 5 - upper fuse and wing camo added with RLM 75 & RLM 77 mixes 6- scrub down to wear the paint 7 - give it a coat of HS 8- mask the '13' and cross 9- paint 13 in red, cross in white /black + cockpit areas in RLM02 10 - scrub down to wear the paint phew!! Here's the result to date... engine dry fitted only, lots of work there yet to do Comments and advice welcome... please ;D

a bit of feedback please guys... Have a look at the photos below, the engine is going to be rusted and weathered that's a given Question is, should I salvage a couple of panels to cover it a bit or just her wide open so to speak? Think I need to know now as colour matching the panel later will be a right pain in the A"#$ ;D Cheers Steve

Cheers Dicky, I think that's £8.54 well spent I've found a website that lists WWII crash sites in Norway and to tell the truth there ain't a lot left of any of 'em! I'm leaning towards, a freshly found wreck from '44 but found in '75, just need to find a 1/24 figure with a Kevin Kegan perm and flared trousers to pull it off ;D

Love it Steve!! Nice and worn and the engine will look killer!! I think the screw in the right wing needs to be moved back about 1mm to the right per the Fw190 book of general plans! Keep it coming!!

Off to a good start, love the painting and chipping.
My 2 cents on the panels are to have one or two half buried or covered near the hulk.
T the rivet counter....or screw counter.....screwball...LOL

Great work thus far Steve....I'm liking where I think you're going with this! Do you have any thoughts HOW she came to be in this position?...ie dead stick,no engine, pilot aboard?....The reason I ask is, that may influence the damage to the engine/cowling etc....

Thanks for the kind words guys Hi Chris, good point, I was thinking that she took a beating from an allied fighter and executed an 'enforced decent'...souvenir hunters then took a few bits Welcome Mark, glad to have you along Yeah, I'm thinking the same, I think I'll be hiding the void between the engine and fuse with a few twisted panels. The fun bit will be matching the colour and shade but I'll give it a go

ok then a real quick WIP, Its fixed to the base and a bit of groundwork added as a starter for ten. i've got bags of stuff to stick to it yet plus paint. This bit i can do Had a go at grime and rust streaking plus fading out the paint. The windscreen is masked as I've applied a rust base coat, this'll get salt and a light grey top coat. the upper deck and engine still needs a load of work and I need to add the canon and prop but I think it's getting there? I dunno ... what do you guys think? Comments welcome please!! I'm getting a bit lost on the detail
