Hi Chaps, going through the stash this afternoon I found this, my 1/24 Airfix FW pig, just right for the chop ;D Which I though I could turn into something like this crossed with this I'd copy the techniques used by the great TRM on his wingything in the PTO GB as a 'step-by- step' how to If that's OK Mr T? wot'd ya reckon? Cheers Steve images used for reference only

Thanks for the positive words guys, really helps to keep the mojo going Did a bit more today and it's ready for a primer coat. Silly question #1: Will Halfords rattle can be OK as a base for the hairspray technique ? Cheers Steve

Blimey.!!. the site's so busy I even miss posts on my own thread ;D ChrisS - I thought I'd go for a weather worn/ faded finish and the hairspray thing seems like the best plan.. maybe time will tell Dicky - yeah, I've always had a good turn out in the past, just never used them as a base for the HS trick Bigjohn, Multicam & Deafpanzer.. thanks for the kind words guys, glad to have you along Right off to take some pics, "I'll be back" ;D

Ok then, after a fight with Photobucket that ended up with me re-installing Java Here we go! I've added the cockpit, suitability depleted of dials and switches also fixed the firewall and engine bulkhead. Foil from the vino bottle has been recycled into bent panels to blank off some holes A bit of artistic license has allowed me to drill out some 'popped' rivets and add some ribs to the wings and rear fuse, deffo not technically 100% but good enough for this modeler Also mounted it on a base, maybe a bit small but I think it'll work Comments welcome as always Cheers Steve

Bigjohn , thanks matey I thought it just added that 'something' ! Multicam , cheers buddy Quick update for you tonight, Finished the hacking on what's left of the airframe. Used a hot soldering iron to soften the engine panels before bending them, then set about thinning the edges to give a better 'in scale' look. I've used the 'forced contrast' technique, first spraying black primer in the recesses, then white over the still wet black on the outer panels. Next, first corroded aluminium base coat before moving onto the engine and cannon. Thanks for dropping in, comments welcome as ever

Dicky - ;D ah I see, so let's go over that again.... The technique is, first spray your black primer, then you must find a nearly empty rattle can of white, shake it , turn it upside down and spray on the flat panels. Finally just as the last splat of thick primer hits the model, say the magic code word of Farrrrrrkkkkk! ;D ;D Spud - yeah matey, the white on black paint trick works well on figures, I think I saw it in MM first Mr T - bashing away sir... All in homage to you ;D. Gary - Thanks for the kind words, things are going to slow a little now as I'm onto the hairspray and salt stuff...
