I must agree. It’s is gorgeous work. Awesome stuff. I could never. It’s kept me away from any WWI aircraft. Lol. But I love looking at rigging. Super impressive work.

I just tuned in here Paddy and I am truly awe struck with what I am seeing. You are making what I consider a rather challenging build into an amazing piece of work. Superb work. I'm like others here in being intimidated by rigging WWI aircraft. You are making yours look terrific.

Half way on the wings as i have one side done. Once I have done the other side i will paint the wires and fittings black and tension the wires with a hot source prob a soldering iron. Trying not to think about the dozens of bracing wires on the fuselage and the control wires

Trying not to think about the dozens of bracing wires on the fuselage and the control wires Have you ever tried rigging with EZ Line? It is a model railroad product that is perfect for the finer lines on aircraft and ships. It is elastic so really easy to get tension without putting pressure on the attachments. There are a couple of sizes so you could use heavy for braces and light for control. Would make those control and bracing wires a breeze. This is it on a 1/350 sub. There is no other product that could have got that sort of tension on that teeny tiny piece of photoetch.

Its a possability Tcoat , i am still finding my feet with this game The line i am using is .2mm or about 5 thou inch and i need to feed it through the brass tube and then back again so it needs to have some rigidity and a smooth feel but i don't think for one moment there aren't much better ways to do this, its a learning curve ..

What you are doing for the main rigging makes sense for 1/32. I was talking more the smaller stuff on the sides. These took very little time to rig using it. Just a touch of superglue, wait a minute, pull of tight and another touch of glue.

Yep there is fine (.25) and heavy (.5) in brown "rope", black and I believe green. It has made life much easier when doing ships and biplanes.

Probably a wise move Tobi I though i would try and be clever and make my own solution but its come back to bite me. Really the build is about how bad the Roden models really are, There are very mixed opinions and i cant afford a WnW version so its an experiment... probably one i shouldn't have done live on a forum but then that's really what forums are about isn't it ? Who isnt bothered about falling flat on their face in public

At this very moment it looks as if you're mastering the challenge superbly, Paddy. I keep my fingers crossed. What could be more rewarding than turning a nightmare into a gem?

Basic wing rigging is done, just needs some tensioning once the fuselage frame is added I added some micro tube to the inside of the fuselage frame to help with rigging. I also added some steel pins to help strengthen the tail to frame joints as the tail is quite heavy and there are no location pins in the kit, they think it should be just butted up and glued ?

Today i joined the front to the back and found another limitation of the model. Basically the ladder fuselage is not really strong enough , its made of very soft 1.2mm plastic and sags :-) under its own weight. If i built another i would knock up a brass tube affair to replace it but sometimes you have to accept it is what it is and if you put right most of the problem i doubt there would be a lot of the original kit left .

Decals on a bit early as its going to be really hard to fit them after the next load of rigging Control lines, undercarriage bracing and the tail rigging next, Its actually getting quite difficult to pick this up now as its all very flimsy :-)

Jeez.....I haven't been in here to check this progress out in some time and man have I ever been missing "the show". This is just magnificent work going on Paddy. That rigging looks out of sight as does the detailing that you're putting into this.
