Thank you! I am pretty green for figure painting though, and I think I’m going to redo the one I’ve painted lol.

The first model show I ever entered was at McMinville. As I was placing my entry on the table, I saw the one I was setting next to. The only thing I could think was, “Gods! I hope the judges look at mine first”. Mine did not place. Turns out the one I sat next to was Rick Lawler’s panzer being bulldozed. I asked A LOT if questions that day and took many many notes.

I have a set I ordered through AK. They’re sable Mig brushes from 9/0 through 00.
I had the same issue with my fine brushes. Despite fastidious cleansing and regular conditioning they just wore out.
I’ve been pretty happy with these brushes. They’re what I used to paint my Minerva build and figure

Great suggestion! I’ll have to look into that for my next kit. After I did these rivets, I purchased a flexible see through ruler in hopes that it could help me in the future

thug626 so I spent this afternoon watching review videos on brushes. 

I wound up ordering a brand called Da Vinci Maestro 35. Size 3/0-4. Seem to be pretty solid based on reviews! My wife enjoys painting, so I decided to get a few larger brushes than what I would likely need for her.

Your figure is just about perfect in 1/48. Go stand 45 feet away from a real person and see how much detail you can actually see. If your work looks that good in pictures then it has to be good in real life.

Tonight I did an oil wash with both burnt amber and black. Trying to add more depth to the paint. 









Tomorrow night I’ll apply my flat varnish. 24hours after the varnish I’ll apply pigments, glue in the canopy, and add a few last details. Looking to have the plane complete by Thursday night hopefully!

Thanks everyone for following along! The D3A1 is officially finished!! Next steps will be to get my two figures painted up followed by my photo shoot of it all on the carrier deck with a photo shopped background in.
