Next figure for the gun crew, this one was heavily converted. The belt and shoulder harness carved off the figure, with arms modified from Historex. The jacket modelled with Apoxie Sculpt and Milliput. Trouser creases scribed to improve definition. I am finding my painting technique improves with each figure, so once I have done all eight crew I will go back over all the figures and touch them up. That's the great thing with the acrylic paint you can add new layers on top and improve the blending.

Hey Stuart, I'm no figure painter myself but what you've done here looks pretty dang spiffy to my eye. This is one area of modeling that I'd definitely like to get this good at. Glad you broke the streak and came back to plastic modeling and furthermore glad that you are here. Joe Ditto, dude.

Here is the next crew figure, this is a conversion of Tamiya stock figures with one historex arm so the the figure is gripping the tow arm of the Flak 37 gun carriage that he and the other crew are moving. Here is a close up of the figure, I am pleased with the blending the flesh tones on the face.

Decided that a bigger hammer is needed..! So going to use this figure from the Miniart German Soldiers at work set. The details on the figures are really good and combine this with a Hornet head will make for a much better pose for the crew hammering the gun stakes in. Might also mod the another figure or two for crew, watch this space.

That figure looks pretty nice, not a bad set at all. This one has some pretty good detail and I like the switch out, that sledge works great!

Another slightly converted figure from the Miniart kit, this time the guy digging has been converted to be lifting the ground stake into place on the gun platform, ready to be hammered in. Addition of a Hornet head as they are so much better than the Miniart ones.

Just found this thread, pretty impressive Stuart , even more so given the scale. I dont think i could paint a figure even with a life time of practice so what you people do is witchcraft to me ...

You've definitely got it going on with your figure painting skills Stuart and thank you for explaining the processes used. Alot of folks are using oils so it's very interesting to see you use acrylics and have this good of a turnout. Beautiful work bud.
