I have decided to set the Diorama in an Olive grove in Italy. So the last figure will be dragging a branch from an Olive tree to start the camouflaging of the gun position. I am going to return the finishing of the 88 gun next and getting that sprayed up. Then onto the diorama itself, I have ordered a custom display case from BoxMint boxmint.co.uk

The Diorama is coming along very well and I need to make the last figure for it. I am going to have the crew member removing the muzzle cover from the 88. I want the figure to be wearing ankle boots, so I have used the lower torso from an 8th Army figure with good detail on the boots. The figure needs to be reaching up to pull the muzzle cover off so a suitable upper torso has been found with raised shoulders. The figure proportion was not right so a space has been added to get the upper torso length in scale.

Replaced the head with a Hornet head and cleaned up the figure ready to add the detail. Going to have him with open shirt and then his jacket over the top. Carved out the left shirt collar and added the right one with Milliput. Started building up the torso to create the jacket.

Here is a before and after of the back of the uniform. When I add the arms then the area around the shoulders will be sculpted.

Picking out some suitable hands for the figure. Probably the hardest part of figure conversion is to get the hands right for what the figure is doing. So best solution is to find suitable hands from your spares and then attach them to a wire armature and make the clothing on the arms from Mulliput or similar. The muzzle cover on the 88 had a lanyard attached, so the figure will be holding the lanyard and pulling the cover off the muzzle. I have picked a selection of arms with suitable gripping hands from my spares, it doesn't matter what position the arms are in as I won't be using them. I will cut them above the wrist mid fore arm area and grind off the clothing, attach them to a wire and position in the correct pose.

Your figure bin looks like mine. I never throw away spare parts, so I recon that makes us both pack-rats, HA!
That's a cool ref pic, it's got some wheel damage that somebody probably got shot for, ooops.

The hands have been selected, cropped and clothing clean off ready to be modified for my new figure. The trousers are now finished, need to add the detail on the gaiters next.
