Work has come to a halt !! Now no one is aloud to laugh but Lesson one / Dont dry paint on the radiator Now i will find out how good customer service is at Italeri in their spare parts dept Don't fret paddy, that'll buff right out. If that happened to me at this point the kit would be religated to the closet of doom...where fubared kits go to beg for a new home. Kinda like the Island of Misfit Toys. Hope Italeri can help.

Man, this is classic Paddy work, once again! You really do a bang-up job on these cars, very impressive and realistic. If all else fails you could work in some plasticard and refab the damaged area, couldn't you?
If this kit is anything like the Italeri Harley Hog, it's bloody delicate and will bite you back if not careful. This is not an end gamer, not with your skills, just a minor set-back is all. Ruck On Bby!

Ha ha thanks Steve, i think if Italeri cant help i will try a bowl of boiling water and try and get it a bit nearer and then go down the accident damage route. Its not a complaint as such because it was my own silly fault but this Italeri plastic is a bit odd ?. show it some spirit based washes and it falls to bits so i might have guessed its melting point was very low

Decided to carry on regardless Italeri are checking to see if they have a replacement body shell.
Wheels come with a nice satin chrome finish but its not what i am aiming for so a mixture of light grey applied with a small bit of sponge, a flat coat and some MIG engine oil spots have sorted them out That's some really impressive weathering on those wheels and tires Paddy and thank you for the explanation on how you did it.

Cool, now you can use the body as a backdrop to a vinette. Kind of a what not to do....racing wise of course LOL.

So this is where i have got too while i wait for the replacement part I have fitted the under tray, the car doesn't really have a floor so the prop shaft and gearbox etc are in the cab but it does have an under tray to just stop stones and water flying up off the road and no doubt it adds a lot of aerodynamics as well. The good thing about taking close up pictures is it highlights the errors which you wouldn't usually notice so i can sort them out this weekend... Thanks for looking in

All of this detailing is a good amount to take in which is definitely a good thing. I've always enjoyed watching what you do with this era of racing vehicles Paddy. That's good news about the customer service that you got out of the deal as well. True raritiy these days.

Fantastic you are back on track again with this! I keep going back a few posts on this build to take in all of the detail you have done so very well on this. It really is stunning

Fantastic progress!! The open floor cockpit reminds me of a sprint car or old front engine Indy car. Which makes sense after thinking about it.

Seat, Tamiya rubber black base then white and rust pigments for brown leather and Tamiya weathering dust as well then scratches to the surface to replicate creases and cracks

No way. I don't even believe that seat was originally made of plastic. That's just a tiny leather seat you found somewhere.

Experiment in lock wiring today, i tried earlier with 16BA cheese heads however i found some 14BA round heads which actually have a smaller head dia than the smaller thread cheese heads.

I was wondering how you were going to re-create this detail. It looks like you are nailing it like the rest of this build. The seat looks perfect!

Still waiting for my spare body tub from Italeri. the post here is pretty much useless now. 25 days to send a small packet from Italy ? I probably could have walked it faster Mean while i have been knocking up a base, not something i would normally do but having to wait for parts sort of forces you into these things. The cobbles are 1/12 scale from a dolls house supplier and are real slate , wood is balsa with alloy rod inside to strengthen it. Grass is the static stuff the use on model railways and will be a lot longer than this base layer
Still a way to go but you get the idea.

What better way to make good usage of time while you're waiting on the parts to come on the ship from ...........Saturn??!! That base does look the part quite well with all of the details and weathering Paddy and that's really going to add alot to an already good looking build.
