Despite the issues you're encountering, you are doing one heck of a smart job on your 190. Excellent solutions you have going there.

Thanks, guys! Threw a little paint at it so it's starting to look like something. I went with MRP Grunblau for the late war fuselage color, Mr. Color RLM 76 for the painted wing areas, and MCW Bare Metal for the, wait for it...bare metal. A little MRP White Aluminum as well. I've done some research into the scheme on this aircraft and will deviate from Eduard's interpretation. There is only one photo of this plane so not a lot to go on but I think it's more likely that the upper fuselage was 81/82 and the upper wings were 83/75. That's what I'm going with anyway. Cheers, Jay ![](https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ae122/tucohoward/0db64b706c92d6a377eba1abfdff363b.jpg) ![](https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ae122/tucohoward/20240117_174215.jpg)

I love that multi color subassemblies work on the airframe undersides! That sure emphasizes the dispersed nature of the German aircraft industry in 1945!

Good LORD man!! That paint is just on a whole nuther level Jay. The Bare Metal from MCW seems to have worked out very well for you. I used Matte Aluminum on my D-9 but this looks a tad bit better than my attempt.

Looking outstanding! Great work on using the plastic shims to get everything all lined up. I too have seen somewhere are reference to using a bit of sprue glued below the cockpit to widen the fuselage just enough to seal the wing root gap. Can't recall now if I did that on the one D-9 I built when they first came out or not though. Thanks for the update. Paint looks spot on! Way to nail the look. I do like your take on the scheme as well.

Yep, very cool scheme. Paint is coming together nicely. This is the plan for my next D-9, or at least something similar with the late war RLM76.

Outstanding paint job! Makes sense to paint the tail stripes instead of using the decals. Thanks, everybody! Actually this kit doesn't give you a decal option for any of the fuselage ID bands. That's ok with me since decals almost always give me a problem at some point, and this build is no exception haha. Details coming soon. Jay

Your paint work is outstanding! I like that the ID bands are painted on. I tried using decals once. I have found it far easier and get much better results by painting them on.

Thanks, guys! So as usual I had a decal issue. One of the lower wing crosses just stuck, didn't want to move, and ultimately folded up and I couldn't save it. No spare decals for this cross type as I generally do 109s and they don't use this one. Dug a Maketar mask set which I was pleasantly surprised I actually had in 1/48 scale. I have a lot of 1/32. Sealed the seams Mr. Masking Sol R, love that stuff, and then used some post-its to mask a wider area. Don't need any overspray at this point. Love post-its for quick general masking. Painted with Mr. Surfacer 1500 black which is what I use for pretty much anything that needs to be black. Super smooth satin finish. I'm happy with the result. I also assembled the upper IP with kit PE. Since this is my first 190 I'm not quite sure about the upper IP positioning. Instructions are kind of vague on this. Seems like it just buts up against the firewall and stops when the IP contacts the upper fuselage, sort of floating. The front canopy section fits over it fine so I guess it's correct. Cheers, Jay ![](https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ae122/tucohoward/20240124_180104.jpg) ![](https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ae122/tucohoward/20240124_180137.jpg)

Thanks, guys! Decal problems again. This time the upper wing crosses. Every time I feel like I have a handle on these new Eduard decals something happens. Removed all that would come off with tape, sanded smooth, touched up paint, and went for the masks again. This thing has been very close to being tossed in the trash can several times and it's probably still 50/50 but it's safe for now.
