I have to find the clear parts—update! I did. I cannot find a base so it looks like when I bought this kit there was no base. All the other parts were securely packed. Inventoried. I can build something out of styrene sheet as a cradle or go with the gooseneck.

I will be going to IKEA with C tomorrow! I will check this desk lamp out. I am also exploring the idea of building a cradle.

Time to party on the big boat! Is the lady on the extreme left of the picture Diana Muldaur? Appeared in two TOS episodes as different characters (Lt. Commander Ann Mulhall and Doctor Miranda Jones) and in "Next Generation" as Doctor Katherine Pulaski? Cheers, M

When we acquired our first TV (only monochrome back then) different aerials were required for BBC and ITV and we could only afford the simple H -shape one for BBC. So while I saw the first transmissions of "Doctor Who" and "Star Trek" at home, I only saw "Supercar" and "Stingray" at friends houses, but by the time "Thunderbirds" came along Dad had obtained an item which could be hung up in the vicinity of the TV and plugged into it in place of the BBC feed which gave some ITV reception of variable quality...
Cheers,
M

After - with black background and before - with the orange background; this is after sanding with a 240 grit strip of paper. I punched a hole in the strip and slid it down over the point of the deflector assembly to facilitate some careful sanding.Update: I have moved to a finer grit 400 sandpaper using the same method of punching a hole and sanding in a circular direction around the interior. I also addressed the “out of round” edge a bit, just a wee bit.

t’coat (Vulcan name?), thank you; thank you. Let’s see if there’s a way to add the missing “ball” on top from the sprues. Maybe? Maybe it’s a bit too much. Query: what is the best way to remove dirt from old plastic? The kit is very dirty and liquid soap doesn’t seem to cut through the old layers of grease, perhaps also cigarette smoke. Atmospheric analysis pending

Atmospheric analysis pending To add the ball just use a drop of clear parts cement or white glue. Don't try to start too big or it will droop. You can build it up in layers until you get the size you want. Just soak the parts in some bleach for a bit and they will clean right up.

Thanks so much, tcoat! Does your name come from the movie “Fargo?” Gotta have the true coat… I’m gonna ask my local jewelry store ladies if they have any plastic beads and metal chain rings to dress up that rod.

Awesome! I built enough of this kit over the years to have a entire fleet. How do I follow this?

Hello deafpanzer and midnight prowler! I’m working on the color choice which may be Rust-o-leum. Time to experiment in the lab. I pulled down that golden pear from the internet; that’s a sample of the sprayed gold finish. Happy MLK Day, folks.

Never considered bleach for cleaning plastic parts but it makes sense. Keep 'er comin' Bruce!! Just DO NOT use it on chromed parts unless you no longer want them chromed! The beauty of the bleach is that a few minutes soak, a quick scrub with a brush and a rinse off leaves a perfectly clean and residue free surface. I used some dish detergent one time that I could not get rinsed off for the life of me.

Hopefully there will be some plastic left. If you start seeing light through it then STOP!

Bruce! I'm so thrilled to see you here and posting! What amazing photos and brilliant work you've done so far!
By the way, I am five vehicle models away from 900 pieces. I would love to have your help with the photography when I get the display set up.
Keep this coming, I've always loved that ship!
