I’m building this 68 Coronet using the chassis from this RoadRunner. The engine will probably be sourced from an AMT 71 Charger since (if my memory is correct) it has a 440 engine with a 727 transmission in that kit.

With just a bit of trimming on the edges of the firewall and radiator support it fits perfectly! Next I’ll mock up the suspension and check the ride height.

These rims and tires won’t make the final cut, but they do show the body sitting level. I may raise the back just a bit…🤔

I’ve about got all the details worked out so I can start getting some subassemblies glued together and ready for paint.

Great start with mocking everything up to make sure the stance is right on Alan and it looks right on so far. Going to the concession stand......anybody need anything?

A little more progress on the Coronet! The engine from the Revell Mr. Norm’s 68 Dart fit better so that’s the one I went with. The rear axle from the Dart was used as well since it has an 8 3/4 which would have been the correct axle for a 68 R/T with a 440 Magnum with an automatic transmission. The chassis got a little paint and the body was prepped and painted. I’m going to give the body about a week to dry before handling it. In the mean time, I’ll start on the interior.

What a cool color and it seemed to lay down nicely on that car body Alan. Good call on the Revell engine as well.

I like the overspray on the chassis look. Didn't know that was a real thing until I saw it on the bottom of a plastic model kit.

That chassis looks terrific. Very convincing.👍 Krylon you say? Did you do that overspray with a rattle can?

The black portions around the rear wheel wells and the front suspension areas were covered loosely so as not to have too harsh a line.

I like the overspray on the chassis look. Didn't know that was a real thing until I saw it on the bottom of a plastic model kit. Since Mopars are unibody cars there’s no chassis to get paint separately. That is why there’s body color over spray around the edges. ✅
