Thanks dudes! The plan is to leave the top removable. Problem is, the top has a little warp to it. It's not a huge issue. It would sit perfectly with a little pressure and some glue. Marvelous looking model. Like the others said, hard to believe this quarter scale with all the detail. One could take it for 1/35. Have you ever thought about using tiny magnets for removable parts? I have experimented with it on a 1/35 M5 Stuart, your Tiger should be of similar size. That, I have not. I really don't see it as necessary in this situation. The turret top fit is beautiful...easy to pull on and put back on. The hull top fits a little better now, with all the stuff on. There's a little bit of pressure where the exhausts(?) meet up, that helps. That rear/left corner sits just a touch high, but is acceptable.

I can’t get over the detail that’s in some of these later 1/48 armor kits OOB. Even though I figure a fella like you does a good amount of research on any given kit that you build. I’m still pretty sure that you were a bit surprised when you opened the box and saw all the parts on several different sprues. Coming along good on this. Ya...yup...you could say that!!! Like a wise man once said, "just keep working, and eventually you'll get there"! SO many sprues! 12 or 13!

Whoa, they've got you building armor over here? That thing is looking really good. With this level of detail, I wonder if 48th scale armor will grow as 72nd has in recent years. Ya...what the hump, right?!!! Don't get used to it!!! The only other armor I have is a Dragon Marder II...I pulled it out the other day...saw the track pieces and promptly placed it back in the stash! I do have a Takom "Female" that is near finished..but again, those tracks. I think there's 5 pieces each, and I gotta do like 184 of em....huuuuuuuu Here's that...

Big thanks, everybody! Paint has been ordered...still waiting on that. As she sits right now, awaiting the booth... Masked up where needed, ready to go. Tracks in "rust" base...still a ways to go there!

Long ago, I used some Modelkasten and Friul tracks because I thought workable was cool. The Friuls weren't terrible but the MK tracks? Never ever again.

Flung some paint, finally! I use Tamiya lacquer...for the first time. It aint no Model Master, but it'll do. It took a LOT of paint...just a few drops left in the jar. That doesn't make much sense to me! So many wheels..... Game-plan is to get the tracks on...then the side skirts(?)...then throw the green camo at it(going with the box art scheme)

Looking good Fermis! If you're not happy with Tamiya lacquers, I suggest that you try some AK Real Color lacquers. Those paints are VERY pigment rich, and a little goes a LONG way...

Looking real good with paint on! Yeah Tamiya wants you to buy many more bottles of paint to keep them making more money.

I can dig that shade of yellow and it looks like you've laid it down super smooth. I'll be spraying some of the AK stuff on my IV E soon. I've heard good things.

Hahaha. This is the whole reason I’m reluctant to ever attempt a tank. I’m not sure I’d enjoy this part at all. But I love seeing everyone else do it!

I really do love watching a good armor build unfold and in 1/48 especially. Lotsa details in that hull and am looking forward to seeing the work you'll be putting into the road wheels and sprockets. This is intense to say the least!!

Hahaha. This is the whole reason I’m reluctant to ever attempt a tank. I’m not sure I’d enjoy this part at all. But I love seeing everyone else do it! It only got worse!!! Got the treads done last night. I enjoyed zero of it...in fact, I hated every second of it. Many angry words were spoken. There were 2 long pieces for top and bottom, and 2 short pieces that angle up to the sprocket and rear whatever that wheel is called...and about 30 individual links to go around the curves.(for each side) I did a bit of weather on the lower hull and wheels before putting all this crap in place (still got some weathering to do on the tracks) With all that in place, I can mask off below the "skirt" and spray some more color.

Length and link tracks tend to be difficult at best; there aren't many that will not fight you and 'cause of this I'll always go to AM indy links if I can. You've done quite well here for you first shot at it methinks and remember it's a tank, mud can always come to the rescue. Ask me how I know this

Jeremy ( fermis ): I hear you on the amount of frustration that you had to endure throughout the track build up process but DUDE.....you most certainly have the results to show for it. Beautiful work on these tracks and I'm looking forward to the weathering processes that you'll be using along with the results of them. Good LORD man! Frickin' NAILED it!!!

Thanks, dudes! Camera angles are key...I'll say that much! At a casual glance...ya, they're alright...but knowing what I know... Moving along! Slung some more paint... I can't say that I had a good time with this either. I do enjoy free-handing some mottling on German planes...but not so much when there's a pattern to follow AND hard surface angle changes.

If there is a set pattern to the camo on German tanks I've never figured it out and certainly didn't do any such thing on my Bandai Panther, Jeremy.

If there is a set pattern to the camo on German tanks I've never figured it out and certainly didn't do any such thing on my Bandai Panther, Jeremy. Only at the end of the war, say autumn of ‘44 on, was camo applied at the factory in something of standardized patterns on new build vehicles. But the patterns depended upon each particular factory. Until that time, from Feb ‘43 on, and in some cases afterwards, camo patterns were applied by crews to best suit local conditions using the Dark Green and/or Red Brown colors over the Dark Yellow base coat. Before then, there is a who different batch of colors and guidelines.
