Well I'm outta order for a week and a half now. A sneak attack from an Xacto knife got me right in the palm at the base of my thumb. Three stitches in the ER. If you wanna see the open cut, I'll post it.

Comes with the hobby. I got 7 stitches in my left index finger several decades ago courtesy a #11 blade. Kick back with a coffee or a beer and do some research. Get better soon.

Stop that it's bad for you and expensive. Your medical advice for the day.
On the bright side you missed the saddle joint and tendons that really would have sucked

Aw geez Mike, awful sorry you took such a nasty hit. Especially one that inhibits your ability to model. The time will pass quick enough and I know you be will back it with a vengeance in short order.

Thanks everyone! It very rarely hurts now unless I try to use it a lot. I'll get the stitches out on Friday.

Oh man, I got the oogies seeing that injury!
It reminded me of when I was trying to saw a long casting block off a Verlinden CSS Hunley kit. I was doing it in the laundry sink using soap water to contain the dust. I got impatient and tried to use a large blade to slice the remaining block off. Well, soap water + large blade + impatient modeler = fractured casting block forming a long, pointy shard impaling impatient modeler’s hand.
The blood was glorious. The deep, dark red kind of blood. I tried using a rag tied around my hand to contain the bleeding so I could get the job done. I actually have about 3 models that were bathed in blood from such incidents.
Anyway, Medicman, I hope you are on the mend!

It was just going too slow and my patience was running out. In a fit of stupidity I grabbed a long blade that came with an Xacto set and thought I could slice the remaining casting block off. “If I could just get that blade just so…”

Okay, to my untrained eye, that looks like it could have used 1 or 2 more stitchy things. Is three all insurance would pay for?
