My next project the Tamiya 1/48 Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien codenamed Tony the Wiki Link for the Hien en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_Ki-61So far this has been a excellent build typical Tamiya quality.  I picked up some aftermarket parts for this build. 1. Eduard Brassin Gun Barrels 2. Eduard Brassin Wheels 3. Quinta Studio 3D printed decals. This is for the Hasegawa kit but with a little trimming they will work just fine 4. Haven't got them yet but after looking at the kit exhaust I'll probably pick up the Eduard Brassin for this too  Like most aircraft kits construction begins with the cockpit. I've removed some details, the gauges off the instrument panel for one to make way for the 3D decals later  That was followed by painting. First a coat of Tamiya Black, Followed by a coat of Alclad Aluminum, a layer of hairspray then finally a top coat of Mr. Hobby 19 Sandy Brown with a few drops of Tamiya XF-4 Yellow Green to get close to the color seen in some photos of unrestored cockpit parts found online (Followed a link on Large Scale Planes and fell into a rabbit hole from there)  This was then chipped away on the pedals, floor and seat  That's all for now! He's a great aircraft builder I do build more armor than anything else but I will build about anything from aircraft, armor,ships and sci-fi. Cars don't interest me much but if I found a kit of my 2021 silverado I would build it |
