The resin Demon build is causing me to pull my hair out right now, so I needed a fresh break. This build is a replica of the 68 RS/SS Camaro that my father special ordered at the beginning of 68. It was Matador Red with White Sport Stripe, ivory and black interior with console/ gauges. He ordered the L89 396/ 375 hp with aluminum heads, M22 Muncie, 4:10 posi. The car was $4600 when all was said and done. I am building this as the day after he brought it home with Torq Thrusts and traction bars. He did not add headers or get rid of air pump until the warranty ran out, so that is the way I am building it. I had to also purchase the Revell 67 SS kit for hood, exhaust, intake and the 69 Pace Car for parts of the interior. I also had to use the belt setup from the LT1 Vette, as alternator placement is totally wrong in Camaro kit.

On the upper door edge, I added .010x.020 styrene to make chrome molding where vent window was. The rear tail panel is all jacked up on these Revell kits, causing tail lights to slant down toward the middle. To remedy, I filed opposite corners and added strip styrene to correct. Besides that, there were some mold lines to smooth out, but otherwise, pretty nice.

I forgot to correct the rocker area trim to match the 68 RS trim, so I carefully shaved away the excess trim, sanded smooth, taped , primed and shot lower body and tail panel with semi gloss black from MCW.

The resin Demon build is causing me to pull my hair out right now, so I needed a fresh break. Totally get it Rich. The same thing happens to me when I get into a really in depth build as I've gotta have some sense of accomplishment. You laid down some pretty dang good looking paint work there brother.

Yes, the headers and nitrous system on the Demon keep kicking my butt. I needed something to make serious progress with for a bit. This build is a lot easier right now, but still takes some scratch work. I am making some more progress on rear seat, a little filling, scribing and making upper pad from .010” sheet should do it, along with a generous amount of sanding😁

Small update, been busy trying to locate another copperhead that has been showing up on my motion camera by patio door at night. We don’t need a morning surprise! I managed to get closer on rear seat, ground out insert areas on front seats and started with the half rounds. As for doing better than you, after seeing your vette build, I would doubt it. I’m doing ok for being away from it for 30 years. I plan on getting some more work done in next few days, then off to PA. to clean out father in laws house for a week. Busy, busy , busy!
