Looks really good! But... I can't hold my tongue on the bright silver shovel and axe! The straps and brackets should be khaki or at least green and a dark wash to knock the brightness of the silver down would go a long ways. May be just the pictures but they stand out far more than they ever would.   |

Just wasn’t quite sure what to do with them as I say them in green, metallic, black. All different. Just chose to go with a flat iron look. Maybe I should’ve went more burnt iron or darkened it up a bit more. I don’t know. |

I've been also doing some research on the various tools on US vehicles and their colors... Steve Zaloga on the missing lynxs forum stated the following: All tools were supposed to be painted in olive drab like the rest of the vehicle. However, due to the pressures of wartime production, this was not always the case. If it didn't come in standard GI OD or later Forest Green then CARC Green, the tools looked like any of the same type you could get at Sears or hardware store in varnished wood and painted metal. After every field use, vehicle crews are given cans of green and black paint to repaint them after cleaning, and also prior to inspections. |
