This is a 3D printed kit I got around 2019. Kit nozzle with a 23rd century and a metal one. The kit ten turn and side knob with some metal ones. Some control wheels Some aftermarket metal parts I might use Dry fitting the P1 next to a fiberglass P1 I built years ago. The aspirator (crispy), I painted it black and then put bare metal chrome foil on it. I like how it came out. I tried the same trick with the nozzle with less than satisfactory results.

Following this one. I've seen kits of these for sale but never a wip of one being assembled. Should be cool to see it come together

Thanks! The printing is very nice, the print lines are very tight. The P1 is painted and looks good. I used Tamiya AS-4 Luftwaffe grey violet. Its a close match to the xylonite dark grey primer used on the originals. The kit came with poorly poured resin clear, I'm replacing those with some aftermarket stuff. The rising site is just a clear, flat piece of resin. I've cut some clear plexiglass to replace it. The P2 body is primed, I'll need to sand it lightly before paint. I had to order some Tamiya Haze grey for the main body. The handle is painted gunmetal, but I ran out of that also, more is on the way. The fit is excellent so far.

WOW !! This is beyond cool. I remember when you could buy a set of the toys with the phaser and communicator together. Very nice work as well.

Are these full size?
When I was a kid I had a model kit that had a communicator, phaser type 2 and tri-corder but they were very small, at most 1/2 scale which even to kid hands were way to small to feel right.
It would be fun to have full size replicas

This is full sized, not like the disappointing old AMT exploration set. The old AMT reproduced the pieces as seen in the animated series.
The old DST "toys" are also nice and accurate, but they have been out of production for years.
There are a few garage kits floating around on ebay, but they tend to be a bit pricy.
The Wand Co makes the best, but the phaser has been out of production for years also.

I have all the necessary tools, but the skills may be lacking. Your kits are coming along quite nicely. Seems like the "mesh" on the Phaser T1 is the only area lacking somewhat. Many frying pan covers use fine screen, but there are some with expanded or perforated metal that might work as a good donor material. I've sacrificed some of the expanded metal type for use on model cars.

Thanks!
Unfortunately its been way too wet/humid/rainy here to paint.
I'm close to being ready to put the 1st coat on the P2 body.

I got some paint on the phaser today and started construction on the P1. Gunmetal on the handle: Tamiya Haze Grey on the body: The P1. The indicator: The nozzle. I have a metal one, but the printed one worked better.

As is often the case in a build, something pops up to slow things down. I'm not sure how it took me until 2 days ago to notice, but the 3D printed side rails of the P1 are different lengths. But the slots they fit into are the same length. So I either have a gap on the side rail on one side or I have to fix it. As you can see one rail is about 1.1-1.3MM short. I mulled over a few options. Making a new one, using putty to extend the short one, using epoxy putty, or just leave it. Epoxy putty won out: It's hardening now. I used sculpting tools and alcohol to get it close. I'll gently sand it tomorrow. I got a bit of detail painting done.

After trimming, rough shaping, and then sealing with a thin layer of CA glue. It fits, but still needs some finishing.

I buffed the scratch and re-sprayed I'm counting on the self leveling of the Tamiya paint.

I screwed up cutting the P1 window. I had to order some clear stock. The new stuff is very nice, my 1st attempt with it fit perfectly. I'm painting the detail parts. I have a bunch of metal parts but I'm trying to use the printed parts when able. The 10 turn will be close.

Getting very close. I got all the detail parts on except the side knob and ten turn. I'm still thinking of switching them out for metal parts. I got the handle on. I'm leaning towards using the printed side knob and metal for the ten turn. Any thoughts on adding the red jewel to the P1?

Now it is starting to look way too cool! Maybe red jewel will look better than painted knob.

You're turning out a mighty fine replica of this phaser despite your troubles along the way Mark. Looking forward to seeing the finished product buddy.

The kit side knob next to an metal one I have. The metal looks a little better, but doesn't fit as well. The kit knob it is. That decision was easy. The ten turns, kit and metal. I painted the kit turn and used a very fine sharpie to number it, but the metal looks soooo much better! The next decision was how to mount it. My DST phaser looks flush. My The Wand Co looks flush. The Jein hero phaser looks flush. So flush it is.
