Thanks guys. Some progress on 509. The exhausts were white metal, so I took advantage of it and painted the headers and hand polished the pipes. Added the injector plumbing, oil lines and plug wires.
Still some work to do on this one.

404 is done.
Exhaust braces and "wings" don't come with the kits, other than that the AAR cars are pretty much box stock with Indycals decals.
And Dan's windshield got tinted blue.
Now the turbo car and finish up the F5000.

Brilliant Paul!! I have an original release of these still sealed inside. Makes me want to build it. They look really nice. Your additions are an excellent touch too

I started 402. The Offy isn't included in the kit but I already have one. First painted the tub silver and all the body bits white. Then I assembled the tub , masked it off (not fun), and sprayed the red.
After de-masking:
(I photo copied the decals and used them as a template)
Decals applies and some clear coats. Not perfect but better than I expected.

Looking forward to your next update.

Thanks guys, but that Rislone car is putting up a fight. GRRR.
So I finished up 509, it's my favourite of the lot anyway.
I'll do the glam shots when they're all finished (assuming they all get finished)

Looks great Paul. It's not often you get to see a model of a F5000 Eagle Thanks Paul. F5000 (and Formula A as we once called it) was my favourite form of motorsports while it lasted. Very fast cars and some very good drivers. Nobody makes kits of them so I build my own. The conversion parts for the Eagle helped in this case. I built a couple of 1/12th F5000 cars, I guess I should post those eventually.

Oh man Paul, that is killer!! Love how she looks in F5000 trim. If the Rislone special is fighting you and you want me to get the three completions into the gallery let me know. I can always add number 4 later. Great looking builds so far!

Paul, Just love the Rislone Special. She's a real looker in that bright Red gloss paint. Like Kyle, I still have my Eagle shrink wrapped. But Your collection really is getting me excited to actual attempt building the kit.

But Your collection really is getting me excited to actual attempt building the kit. joel They're not bad kits. The parts are there, quality control is horrible. Out of the four kits, none of the body parts are identical. I've been mixing and matching pieces to get the best combination and they still need to be trimmed. Typical of the era, we get spoiled working with Tamiya and Fujimi and Meng and forget what it used to be like.

Paul, how right you are. I'm sure that the dozens and dozens of aircraft my brother and I build back in the mid to late 50s, then flew all over the house had open seams, mis-aligned landing gear and wings, and we won't even go into the decals, but when I think of those times, the kits all were build to IPMS standards and were National award winners.

Ah, mine was shrink wrapped but thanks to Paul here I have un-shrink wrapped mine. No plans to build it just yet but I did want to take a look at what was in the kit. Hear you on the quality control Paul. The Lola are the same. No two kits alike!! Always make things fun.

Kyle, I'm afraid that if I unwrap the kit, I'll start to tinker with it, and somehow loose parts.

Kyle, Every 6 kits I place an order with Indy Cal for at least one sheet, some cars where I still can't decide on the scheme I buy two different sheets. So I do have Michael's Indy Cal sheet. My decals are stored in plastic shoe boxes in zip lock bags by category. To bad my paints are a total mess.

The only way I could figure out how to put this together was to install the intake, then the engine cover, and then the exhaust.
And I have some decals to repair.

The painting, decaling and detailing work that is going into these is truly amazing Paul. I really like the 404. Maybe it's the blue color but that thing is flashy man. All of these are hell and gone from what you started with.
