Actually a herd (or is it a flock?) of them. Started out to be one and kind of snowballed. I got a transkit for a F5000 conversion for the Olsonite Eagle kit, never got around to it. Then I got a second kit. Then a dismantled glue bomb. So I've started building three slightly different Eagles, figured I might as well make it all four variants and ordered another one.
They will be chassis numbers 402, 404, 405, and 509. Hey, they're small. (1/25th scale)
The glue bomb, as received. It will be 509:
A slight head start, I've stripped and cleaned up the bodywork, and de-chromed everything.

The new kits will build the AAR cars. Two tubs assembled, I have no idea what those posts are for, but they will be removed.
Started the super clean bath, get rid of the horrible chrome plating - tubs sprayed

I did get some work done. Painted some parts and started a chassis
Mostly just a base silver that I apply Alclads over. Tamiya TS55 dark blue for the bodywork.

The transkit has an all one piece cast resin Chevy engine, quite nice. I just painted it black and aluminum. There are some cast white metal parts, and I don't have a metal polisher. I'm just going to paint them as they are.

The Alclads look great Paul!! Very nice looking chassis. Nice choice for the blue also. Thanks Kyle. I never know what colour the Eagles were, it varies in the photos depending on the lighting. My recollection is that they were dark blue with a slight metallic, but I'm probably wrong.
You know me, paint anything midnight blue and I'll love it, lol.

Well I think it’s a good choice. I have a few dark blue eagles to build and always struggle with what color to build them myself. One of those colors that seems different with every account. I love dark blue too

A little progress. The F5000 has a naca duct that the kit doesn't. I had some cast resin ones that I made for a previous build, so I'm going to carve out a hole and try to graft one in. Some pink primer I have left over that I'm starting to like working with.

Sweet!!! That’s a nice looking naca duct and that’ll be a really nice addition. I use pink primer sometimes myself.

This is definitely a cool one to watch come together. That's pretty neat about the one-piece cast engine too. Looking forward to seeing more on this one Paul!

So the naca duct worked out OK, and some white paint. Detailed the dash panel. The transmission is also a resin casting.
Wings are resin from the transkit, steel pins by me (I buy in bulk, lol)

Nice progress here Paul. Moving right along. Just out of curiosity what do you use for pins? I know the options are countless.

Sorry. Steel dressmakers pins. I also use various sizes of sewing needles for struts and stuff, mirror braces etc. And I use the cut off pin heads for rivets sometimes.
The big help came when I bought a set of AK drill bits, they all have the same size shank that fits my dremel, so no more drill by hand with a pin vise.

Hey, pins it is. 😂. Sewing needles. That’s a good idea too. I like that. And anytime I can avoid using a pin vise I am on board with it. Going to have to look into some drill bits to fit my dremel.

Still coming along nicely Paul. I hear you on the pin vise ordeal. I really don't like using those either. I remember as a kid I drilled out all 5 dive flaps on my 1/48 Dauntless Dive bomber. I was a patient kid but that sure tried it. lol What these things look like:

Off to a great start! 4 kits at once! I can’t imagine, I can only stay focused on one thing at a time.

It's TS49, bright red.
If you don't drill a hole in the transmission, the bell housing won't fit. I wonder why MPC would do that?
Basic 4 cam Indy Ford, added the wires and lines that might be seen. Not much gain to going crazy on detailing, it's almost all buried when it's done. I will have a couple of spare engines left over, might be useful down the road.

Looking good so far in the red Paul. That's weird about having to drill a hole in the transmission to get the bellhousing to fit and you pose a good question on why MPC would do that. Engine detail looks pretty dang spiffy despite it being tucked away under paneling and the rest of the car. Ya know.......come to think of it...and I had forgotten... but I had to drill those same holes again when I did the rebuild of the old Monogram Dauntless just 10 years ago.

If you put the kit engines and tranny's in separately they fit. The Chevy won't, so I cut out the crossmember.
And glued it back in after. Decals and clear coat applied.
404 and 405, painted and glued
