Okay... starting another one. I got this model for $15.00! Lot's of flash. I've built the Ridge Runner which is about the same kit and I have Rat Trap Vega in the stash as well - so just missing the "Wild One". These are pretty fun.

John, I've never really seen those kits as I'm usually laser focused when buying or looking for kits. But that Rattle can Blue finish is sure pretty darn nice.

Such fun kits. I built this one a year or two ago. Just a blast. I think I have the wild one stashed away too. Perfect color choice!!

Ahh. Oh no. And I really liked the color you’d gone with. What a bummer. Look forward to seeing what direction you go now

Did you try to remove the decals with sticky tape before the Purple bath?

I hate when that happens. You'll get it sorted out.

Really sorry to see this all happen John but I will say this: I use these instances as opportunities. When I was building my 56 Ford F-100 Demon II, I had to strip it down three times if I remember correctly. Every time I started over with the paint job, I kept getting better and better at it. Hang in there brother, this is going to turn out like a million bucks man.

Joseph, Now that's a great attitude for sure. I really need to adopt it as I've always felt like stripping paint is the last ditch effort before it takes its final journey to the recycling center.

Could also use La's Totally Awesome cleaner. Its at the dollar store and I use it to strip chrome in place of brake fluid and oven cleaner.

John, At least the paint eventually came off.
I've found that Mr. Color Leveling Thinner 400 removes every known paint using a small pc of cloth or Q tips. It's way to expensive to use for a bath stripper, but I've done a few bodies with 1 x 1 gauze pads in no time flat. And is my go to for small parts.
I'm still looking for a chrome stripper as Oven Kleaner is way to toxic these days for me.

Holy cow John. That is some tough paint. Tamiya paint is lacquer based. Lacquer based paints are REALLY hard to get off. Mike Sharp is right though, brake fluid will indeed get it off.

Less effective on Tamiya lacquer. Or if you have a dollar store close by you may be able to find LA’s totally awesome degreaser. I find them to be equally effective for removing chrome.

I'll go the brake fluid route on this one. There's another set of decals that I saw done over a semi-gloss gray body that looked pretty cool. Black chassis, cage etc. and titanium gold wheels.

I did something similar with this kit and a different set of decals. Ocean gray with a gloss coat though so still sort of shiny but also sort of blueish. Leftover paint from my Avro Shackleton build. Lol. Lime green to tie in with my numbers. A semi gloss gray and titanium gold wheels would really be a great color combo.
