Great stuff Gary! Some of these are so well photographed you could even think you're looking at the real thing! Nice to see these all of these old “unbuildable dogs” looking so good here 😉 I’ll add a few more of mine from my oldest survivors done in the late 80’s or early 90’s… Keep up the fire people! Ah, the Hind. I had that one, too, as a kid. Naturally I built a lot of Revell, as it was the most available in Germany, with Italeri next and a few Tamiya. The rest were exotics only in selected stores. I built a lot of 1/32 aircraft and helicopter back then. F4U, F-14, F-15, Mig-29, Huey, Bo-105 (2x). No survivors, but I got me the Bo-105 a third time for the stash.

Actually not an old Revell kit (2013 or so) but if everything Revell is unbuildable, then this one, too:

Absolutely perfect. This is one of my "someday" wishes. It would be really cool if somebody came up with a crew for it though. Of course I would probably regret that desire after doing 40 some odd Vikings in chain mail and leather. Thank you and sorry to spoil the fun here, but then the Viking oarsmen from Emhar and their longboat is the thing for you! OHHHHH That is the ticket. Had no idea it existed. My plans are changed.

More like I would send him one and have the Don require him to build it. There are 433 Monogram, Revell Monogram, ProModeler, and Revell Germany kits in the stash. The latter mostly from Monogram molds but not all.
Maybe I can get Tony assigned to me in the SSGB? No etch, no resin, no rescribing no nothin' just what is in the box!
Well, that's the way I build them! I wish I still have all my pics!

Wow! This is a stunning display of talent. I was away from modeling for 30 years, but back then, Monogram or Revell were my go to models. I built a lot of the Monogram 1/8 cars, still have the XKE in line to be built, and a whole bunch of the 1/16 drag cars. Sadly, I left them behind, at first for service, then later, between moves. The only Revell kit I have currently built is the Camaro

Well, I went digging and found a few models from the past. These first two are Revell boxings and might not qualify being they are fairly recent releases; but they gave me a serious fight nonetheless: Revell 1/72 scale Concorde SST: Revell 1/72 scale A-400 Grizzly: I'll have to look and see what other ones I have or get more pics of some of my other Revell/Monogram builds from the past.

Another difficult build for me: Revel 1/24 scale 1929 Coke Delivery Van: I'll have to look and see what other ones I have or get more pics of some of my other Revell/Monogram builds from the past. UMMMMM the display says "AMT" right on it?

Okay my bad. I can remove it. LOL I don't think there are rules! It just caught my eye. Being an old mold AMT kit is actually more impressive a build than if it had been Revell.

Those are some beautiful builds! Excellent photography, too! The F-100D depicts the jet my friend Don Schmenk had his name painted on when he flew in Vietnam. He once told me that he didn’t know Monogram was going to depict his jet in the kit and was surprised when he found it at the hobby shop. Sadly, I lost touch with Don during the pandemic and later found out he had passed away. Ben

Revell, of Germany, but revell never the less. 1/24 1997 Jordan 197 Revell’s F1 kits are never easy. Extremely nice work.

I went through my Imgur account and found some more. I forgot these are Revell kits. The aftermarket decals on the center and right cars didn’t provide driver suit decals, so Black Stig and White Stig are filling in. I built this Monogram Camaro as part of a group build on another forum. 3D printed wheels. Ben

The most simplistic, crude, toy-like kit Monogram ever produced, with a few upgrades
Pretty much box stock
Except for the decals, OOB

Well, I do have a few Revell or Monogram models to show. Monogram kits were the most available models for me when I returned to scale modeling in the late 1980s. Our local Winn's department store had a small stock of kits, and I think I eventually bought them all, starting with the Monogram A-10, my first "adult" build around 1988. Here are some photos of each, most at the Cameron airport with a few shots from the airport in nearby Rockdale: Those are some beautiful builds! Ben Ben, it is indeed a small world! 😁
First, let me thank you for your kind words! I sure appreciate those comments. 🙏🏻
In one of the first issues of FinescaleModeler magazine that I ever bought, there was a letter from Don Schmenk regarding an earlier FSM article about the F-100 and he mentioned his time in the 'Hun. I had just bought the poor old Lindberg F-100 kit at a close-out sale and had many questions about the plane. So, what else to do but ask an expert in those pre-internet days, circa 1987/88? Mr. Schmenk's letter had only included his town, I believe it was Ottawa, Ohio, but that's been a long time ago. I called directory assistance for that city and got a number. He answered and he patiently listened to my dumb questions. Then he said, "That is a terrible kit; I'll just send you a better kit of the plane I flew in Vietnam." Sure enough, in a few weeks, I received a box with a 1/48 Monogram F-100D, along with extra drop tanks and instructions and hand-drawn diagrams for lengthening the kit's tanks.
That kit sat around for months and then one day while examining the kit's decals, I noticed his name on the pilot's placard! Wow! So, that's what he meant by "the plane I flew in Vietnam."! D'oh! 😁 It was probably a least 15 years before I built that kit, the model shown in the pic. I found an email link on Don's website and sent him some pics of the finished model. He was so generous with his praise and compliments! He was a true gentleman, in my regards.
Sadly, I had read of his passing not too long ago, in Corpus Christi, Texas, I believe. His memorial mentioned his service, of course, and also mentioned his love of flying his classic, Ercoupe private plane. Not too long after his passing, a local dear friend and aviation enthusiast, encountered a pilot who was ferrying an Ercoupe from south Texas to a new owner, somewhere out of state. I've pondered the possibilities of that timing, but probably just a coincidence.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERCO_Ercoupe
