Don was one of the good guys. I can’t remember how we ended up getting to know each other, other than it was over F-100s and flying in general. Back in the late 90s-early 2000s, he was a corporate pilot and he’d occasionally pass through here, so we’d get together for lunch or dinner. We were in the process of trying to match schedules with Dave Menard (another one of the good guys!) in Dayton, but the airline I was flying for went under, so no more jump seat privileges for me. I had corresponded with Dave for several years at the time and it would’ve been amazing to just sit there and listen to the two of them talk F-100s. I had forgotten Don had an Aercoupe. Cool airplane! Ben

The Monogram stock car kits are quite accurate and detailed (if you're into stock cars)
Pre painted window frames, they should all do that
AMT body on a Monogram chassis

Very nice. And I agree. I haven’t built any this new or had the pre painted glass (great idea) but even the older ones that I’ve built are really nice and detailed. Still have a Monte Carlo, an Olds and a T bird or 2 to build

Nice work on that race car arcticwolf . I know nothing of stock cars (well I watched Days of Thunder a few times but that's it ) I actually just acquired my first Monogram Stock Car kit ( a chevy Lumina Purolator ). It does look very nice. Will be a nice change of pace when I get to it. I was surprised how good the decal sheet looked. Not sure how Monogram could give us such thick glossy decals for military kits, but turn around and give us such a beautiful cartograf-like sheet in a auto kit...

Yesterday I pulled some of my other Monogram and Revell builds out of the display case and took some crappy cell phone pictures. Ben Very nice collection benb. The airlines and Voodoo and F-8 are my faves!

Mongram P-47D 'The Turtle' built as the 'Top Hat'. Replaced guns with hypo tubing -- OOB otherwise.

Surprisingly, Monogram kits aren't that easy to get hold of here in the UK for a decent price - so I've not built that many. (Old Airfix kits however...) Here's my two - 1/72 Tornado converted to a GR.1. 1/48 Hawker Typhoon mk.Ib Cheers!

All I could find from my other computer that died. I'll add to the collection of crappy pictures with these ancient hurried shots. Monogram 1/72 B-52D with H conversion added. Monogram 1/48 "Visible" B-17G Before completion As it sat in the museum it was given to.

I'm not a NASCAR fan either, I built those two only because they were Ron Fellows' cars that he raced at Watkins Glen. But they are actually very nice kits. I don't know about Monogram decals, I don't think I've ever used them on anything.
I'm just really impressed with the aircraft builds on here, some serious skill sets and dedication on display. I like planes, I just don't build them (wouldn't know where to start).

Honestly Ben, I buy them anytime I see them locally because they’re usually really cheap. I paid 8 dollars for that one at a flea market and the original Monogram decals worked perfectly. As cbaltrin says, they had their race car decals figured out back then.

Fun to see the evolution of techniques here as well. And I sooo want to do a frogfoot!
Great stuff. These were the goto kits for me back in the day and dare I say their cockpits were generations ahead of anyone else.

Cool Voodoo John—I never realized you were published! Chris, I used to write for an R/C magazine as well, but the only profit in any of it was from the plans I sold as a result of the ads they traded for the articles. You won't make a living at that kind of writing but it is fun. Forums can satisfy any itch that being published can. But they have not been around in the past. Ha ha, Gary, We are only as good as our next model, right?

Thank you John. Good to be here.
Nice job on the Target Reynard. It's a shame that Revell didn't continue with the CART/Indy Car series after the first couple of years.
