Let's see the half full side of the glass. The build is in progress, so it'll soon end. Or, at least, sooner than when it had yet to start, am I wrong?

You're right Luigi, it is going fairly quickly now.
Yus Robmeister, it's already looking better than the photo's taken last night which is promising!

Cheers mate, be good to chat some time. Dog is very upset by the noise so it's being left with a dog sitter each day the workman are in.

This is true mate! To be honest, the key to the remainder of the build is geting the roof on the extension and making it dry and then getting it passed by Building Control. This momentus event occurred yesterday lunch time so now there is nothing to stop progress. I chose the builder because it's a family, father and three sons, each have a different area of expertise and they talk to each other regularly and work any timing issues through. Their target date is November 5th as that's when the kitchen fitter shows up, followed by the flooring fitter. I will paint the walls myself...

Hi mate, we gain about an extra 14-16 sqm but more importantly its space we can use all year round. Windy puppy is very windy tonight as it polished off the rest of lunchtimes pea and ham soup...

Most of the Kitchen now installed, new flooring is laid. Builders back on site tomorrow while the Building inspector (hopefully) signs of the electrics and finally the build itself.
All that remains is the final part of the Kitchen, skirting boards and snagging, then there's a 4-6 week wait while the remaining bits of the Kitchen omitted from the original order (our fault) arrive.
Then, we should be good to go!

Sounds like you're making good progress Prof, sorry to hear of the 4-6 week delay but those things do happen.

Cheers Bill, it seems to be two steps forward, one step back at the moment and to prove the point, the building inspector came today and wouldn't sign of the build due to an issue with the fire door ratings. Feel very tired now...

Inspectors have to find problems...it's called job security! Sorry to hear of the set back, but am sure you'll overcome the red tape Prof!

I'm getting there Bill, it's annoying because I now need to spend and extra £625 just so the inspector can see the right kind of door fitted! Once he's signed it off, I can fit the original door again, £625 down the drain!

Its all about thermal ratings these days, there's more insulation in the extension than in the rest of the house put together. I will bite the bullet as we don't need the grief on the run up to Christmas but I'm not happy.
