Hi Guys With the start of the New Year a Sherman Group Build has kicked off on the "other" site and I thought I would share my build with you guys. Nasty tracks still to do. This will be going on a base with some figures. cheers Rossco

Shermie and base both look great. The extra baggage adds to the Sherman. Gonna be cool once painted up

T, cheers mate, plenty of stowage left over for another 1 or 2 Shermans ;D.
BigJohn, thanks mate, my first use of a Miniart base. Hopefully it will turn out ok.
Spud, no problem mate.
JT, yep MiniArt, it's the Normandy house kit. I extended it a bit because it was a bit small for what I want to do with it.
Rob, thanks, hoping something good comes out of it.
Got a query for you guys that are more knowledgable about Shermans.
I'm doing "In the Mood", from 3rd Armoured Div, France 1944 and Dragon's painting instructions call for a black camo pattern over the OD, I've read that it was a late war scheme but I haven't been able to confirm a date when it started. Anybody know? If not I will just go with the Dragon instructions.
cheers
Rossco

Black cammo patches over the OD would be correct for operation cobra (the breakout from the normandy hedge rows. It should have yellow tatical numbers on the turret for operation cobra as well.

jackwagon, thanks mate, hope I don't screw it up. BigJohn, thanks for the confirmation mate. Armorguy, cheers mate. Wouter, thanks for looking in mate. Well I attempted the tracks this morning, after 2 hours and only getting a short run around the drive sprocket (which doesn't seem to fit real well, but that could be me), I said to heck with it and got out the AB instead. Base colours on, oil time. Hope to get the base coat on the Sherman tomorrow. cheers Rossco

Looking forward to updates!

Making some great progress Rossco!!! You have it right on the tracks....hit a little at a time. Tracks can be frustrating. Better to take a break and get em right than to get frustrated and boggle them. Myself, I need to look into picking up one of these bases!!! WOW shaping up nicely!!!

Wouter, thanks mate, its a big hunk of plastic to weather , should be fun though. BigJohn, I've got a couple of the other bases, that are simpler, which I expected to use first but you know about plans ;D. Robbo, thanks mate, when I start work on the figures you will see where this is going. T, cheers mate, started with the oils on the woodwork, now it starts to slow down waiting for oils to dry. Chrisb, if I can pull off the picture I have in my head, it should be pretty interesting, I hope . Spud, thanks mate. Well seeing as how the modelling holiday is coming to and end , I thought I better try and get to a stage where I can make progress after work. I really like the Vallejo coloured primers, preshaded and basecoated with primer. Then I attempted the black camo. Darn it, that's what happens when you have moveable wheels, they turn on you, oh well there is a bit of touch up work to be done, hopefully I have the camo looking reasonable. cheers Rossco

Prof, thanks mate.
BigJohn, I will be keeping the weathering restrained as "In the Mood" didn't last long in any of it's 3 incarnations.
Wouter, thanks mate, a few filter first up.
cheers

Sorry for the long delay here guys. Had some issues that delayed things but I've made some progress. As you can see decals, tracks and stowage on, second coat of klear to seal everything in, now fun time, started the weathering with a light basic earth tone added to the running gear. cheers Rossco
