Hey all today i have started my next project i wanted to get some colour on the Panther but im struggling with a final decision on colours. The kit i have chosen to use is the Dragon 3in1 value JS-2 the kit seems quite good detail wise the roadwheels are quite flimsy so care needs to be taken when cleaning these i used a file and had no problems hopefully in the next week or so i shall be ordering some blingy bits grilles, barrel and such like. I have had a busy day cleaning the roadwheels got that job done first as its a bit of chore for me!!! then i moved to the lower hull and and fitted all the insidentals and finally started on giving the Russian monster some battle wounds. I dont have any pics as yet i will try and get some done tommorow this will feature another small dio so more on that soon. This is some reference pics i will be using to inspire me along the way. PICTURES FOR DISCUSSION PURPOSES ONLY: Dan B

oh I guess I missed this one some how. Love the ref pics. Been wanting to do the JS2 but had no good ref pics like these. Count me in on this one.
Great start so far, especially the fenders. Battle damage looks right on.

Today saw the JS-2 come to life i made a start on the tracks, the magic tracks went together like a dream it took all day to get one side complete as the tracks were drying i made a start on the turret this is now complete bar the turret as im awaiting for this to arrive in the post. The lower hull is now 50% complete im waiting for some aftermarket parts to arrive for this as well so im hoping the post from Hong Kong is quick!!!lol i have no pics at the moment i will get the make shift photo studio out tomorrow night One bit i have noticed on the JS-2 is my headlight and horn is on the opposite side to any reference photo i have and the drivers hatch is completely different did the Js-2's have regular changes in mods in 1944-1945? if anyone can help it would be much help. You know you want to Rob the Dragon value 3in1 kit is going cheap on the Uk Modelzone website at the moment but not sure what the shipping costs would be for you though. Its a real beast i cant believe the size of the kit let alone what it was like in real life.

Nice progress on the build part, and man great idea for a dio. This is gonna be sooo cool.
Yep, she was a big tank, ad kit too. The JS 3 and JSU 152 are big kits as well. Will check out the next show for one. I had the chance to get one at the last show dirt cheap....regret not getting it now.

Your IS-2 - is early production modificationl (1943). on your reference - 1944 year mod.

The postman delivered the blingy bits today for the JS-2 so i got straight on with it as im itching to get the ab out and get her painted first up the barrel was fitted and then the grilles these went on a treat, then i started on the grab handles on the turret when disaster struck i snapped one so i had to change them all for wire i am quite happy with them other little bits were finished like denting the fuel tank and attaching some damaged fuel straps i made these with printer paper and super glue im in the process of texturing a few areas on the turret when that is finished im going to give it a coat of primer. More soon....... Dan B

Very, very nice. How did you manage to replicate battle damage? All those dents are very realistic.

Thanks boys for the positive comments Bullardino: To replicate the battle damage on the fuel tank i use a lighter and gently heat it then push the fuel tank against the edge of my desk to create the dent i also use a sharp point for smaller dents hope this helps.

Impressive work on getting this one beat-up! That barrel definitely adds to the "mean" look as well.
