While the wash dries on the Brummbar things got to poppin on the bench last night and this morning. The DML A-O prototype has been a breeze but the Tristar's mutiple parts and instruction mistakes keep you on your toes and tends to slow you down. At least we're off to the races. ;D Tony

Nice stuff mate: makes me happy lookin' at that!
Base of the Tristar one looks very familiar: exactly the same as my Tristar Brummbär which is on hold for some time now...
Lookin' forward to next step partner!
Cheers

jackwagon I don't have any scale drawing but using my copy of Spielberger Light Jagdpanzer book the DML A-O matches up nicely with his shown. Look what I found in that book, how I over looked the picture is beyond me. You know what that mean don't you? I wonder why they would apply zimmerit over a mild steel non combat SPG? Talk about a simple kit, there's nothing for the interior not even the gun breech. Hatches buttoned up on this build. Thanks for the comments guys Tony

And fun was had by all I've had this set of Atak Zimmerit for years and no telling how long it sat on the shelf before I bought it. It had shrunk and become brittle and soaking in hot water didn't help a bit. I just cut it where there was a narrow chop seam and will fill it in like I did my Jagdpanther. Works for me. ;D What a day Tony

Damn Tony, that does look sweet bro. that Zimm rocks my friend. I'm a big fan of the L48 version but without zimm, but this looks better. I have to get my hands on the O version, been wanting to wreck that one for a while now. Waiting to see how you tackle that one.

I haven't done any research on the late models yet Rob but from just speed reading the Jagdpanzer IV I think all the late 48's were zimmerite and the late 70's were smooth surface. I was going to use the DML 6589 for the late L/48 and the DML 6397 for the Late L/70. Like I said i'll hit the books and check it out before I commit. Back to the bench for now though, there's work to be done. Tony

Wout no problem, it's communicable ;D All the A-Os i've seen built didn't have zimm and I was hoping that they did just to build one different. I've been pin washing the Brummbar and needed a break just noticed you dropped by. Thanks mate buddy Tony

ok, now I know why the hull is what you said...it's a CH kit....old Imperial Dragon molds. Will still grab one at the show if I find one.

Hey All I glued the upper and lower hulls together on the A-O today. The upper hull is all one piece and had a pretty good warp in it and I had to use three clamps to line things up. I want the glue to cure really good before I remove those clamps or it will be POGO city if I don't. ;D Then I pulled the L/70(A) back to the front and center and installed the front plate, fenders and built up the engine housing/deck. You are required to build it and it's has 28 parts to complete. You guys just think Dragon has to many parts in their kits for enjoyment. I'm out of steam for today Tony

Casement and L/70 gun built. The casement is made up of separate panels that are keyed just like the real thing. You might have to file out the corners like I did to get a tight square fit. I thought it was a nice touch from a building stand point. Unlike the DML A-O kit the Tristar at least provided a gun breech with nice details it's just a shame you can't see much of it even with the hatches open but there's nothing else for the interior really. Until tomorrow Tony

Great build mate, I really like those round corners !

Post by tonylee-Rest In Peace on Feb 24, 2012 9:26:52 GMT -5
Yep Rock I got it fixed last night yeeaaaa Those round corners were dropped due to being difficult and too time consuming to bend, also they were weaker than square corners.

Since you're not going to see the breech very well all I did was spray Tamiya White primer on it and give it a raw umber wash. The rest of the interior will just be flat black. It's Friday and I see a great weekend ahead for all of you. Tony lee
