Bill, John and jackwagon. Thanks fellas, much appreciated as you know. OK just a quick update before I get back to the bench. I thought I'd add a bit more color to the rear and make it more interesting. This area will get lots of oil and grease staining so the lighter color will work best in the end. One shot before the paint. After the paint was applied and the chipping done. Back to the bench to try and get a bit more done.

Looking great as is if you ask me. I really enjoy the rusty metal that still has the bare metal peaking through. Always a nice effect and a refreshing change from the all rusted out look we are seeing alot of these days.

Thanks Matt, yeah it's a good change from the all rust model.
Spud, just that part and the ones seen will get paint. Most of the model is raw steel. Letting the wash on the rear thingie dry before going further.

Last update for today. I added some washes and started the oil/grease weathering. This is the type of weathering that will be done on this ugly duck. Thanks for looking and stay tuned for more. I think at this rate I may have it done by the time the show comes around

Did I go to sleep for a couple of weeks and not hours? Can't believe you got so much done in so little time. Growing up on a farm, I've been around machinery all my life and I just have to say what you're creating here is exactly what I've seen on all types of machinery over the years. Awesome will just have to do I reckon. cheers Rossco

LOL....figured someone would say that. But what to add to a big base would be the question ?? Small is quick and easy.

Gm for the small base with some mines on the front and blasted terrain.

you know I was thinking something like that....or some officers checking it out after some test runs. Deff will have dirt and muck thrown on the lower hull from the exploding mines.

You can also place it in the factory are with some additional plates laying around and some equipment etc. Figures could be looking at the how the thing looks after assembly or something like that

Hello Rob, It is really a pleasure to see al the pics of this model! I understand your opinion concerning the question that i asked. You do a great job !!! I def. have to go to the bench now and figure out how to paint raw steel ! There is some project i also want to paint this way. Concerning the diorama, I think a (small) base in a factory will do the best... But this is only my opinion Grtz, G

Thanks Gert.
yeah a small base is the best bet, plain and simple.
Raw steel is very easy, and fun to do. Just have to remember it's all in the layers.
