Evening MSC! It's about time I do another blog and the Academy M1151 gets my attention. I have done a couple of their old HMMWV kits and found the kits to be basic, the new kit is far from this and it is packed with detail. However a number of inaccuracy problems including the suspension which has been covered by D-toys who offer a resin replacement, I will save my self a few $$ and rectify it myself. I will be adding bits from the spare box including stowage coming from numerous sources including Meng, so stay tuned and this should be good! I started off with the chassie and suspension, the suspension rides too high by 3mm so I had to bend the whole unit upwards so it positioned the wheel higher and closed the 3mm gap, hopefully now she should be a low rider! The final plan is a diorama but with revision taking top priority don't expect a big base so please bare with me and I will update as much as possible! Martyn

Update! The interior is now complete and no problems to report as it really went together without any hastle, a big thumbs up to Academy.. I decided to add a fair bit of stowage to the inside as if the crew have been living out of their HMMWV for a while. Some of the stowage is recycled as I am trying to do my bit for the planet and global warming. Finally the stowage comes from a number of manufactures such as Trumpeter, verlinden, Academy and Meng. I'm still on the hunt for more stowage including weapons and hopefully tommorow I will slap some paint on the interior. Martyn

Interior looks like a nice clean assembly Martyn. The stowage will add some "life" to it for sure.

Nice work so far mate, that interior looks to be very nice. I always like it when manufacturers provide a neat interior in their kit. Stowage is a nice addition as well. Keep it up bro!
Cheers

This is one of the few humvee kits I'm missing from my collection...need to pick one up!
Who makes the "Coleman"-style cooler you've got in the stowage pile?

Thanks a bunch guys, I managed to get some more done on her by painting the interior and added more stowage to her, I promise pics will follow tommorow light permitting. Dupes it's from the Meng 4x4 kit... you get several included in the kit along with several other useful bits of stowage. Martyn

Cheers Dicky, I forgot to ask what weapons do you have for the masterbox figures? Thanks Eth! Update with the M1151 I have started on the armoured roof and added the turret mechanism and no problems there, next up is the turret and it went together with no problem I must admit it looks pretty secure and safer for the gunner. I have made further progress just no photos so hopefully I will get some tommorow. Martyn

Yeah Dicky, its got plenty especially the 50 cal it would give any aftermaket 50 a run for it's money. OK I do have a few spares knocking around from Trumpeter and I was looking to get some more but I'm broke at the moment as I'm saving for Paris.
Thank you Mack and yes mate I will be adding a few figures to the build, the driver comes from the kit but it's really not the best so I will be doing a lot of scratchwork to bring him up to a good standard.
