Have to agree with the rest of the guys here... That Paper Zim looks spot on, it must be one of the closest scale thicknesses ever used.

My apologies to all that commented for not acknowledging the fact. If you are kind enough to look then I should be a bit more timely. So... thanks for all the comment. Now that this thing is getting some paint I have to saying that if the learning curve can be flattened, the paper zim really has a nice scale look to it. Bodge me old chestnut... Yup here we all are. Good to see you. My head has finally cleared (as much as it’s gonna) and I am pretty much caught up work wise after 3 days in Chicago for my nephew’s wedding. And you know what that means… BENCH TIME!!!!!!!!!!! I started off by drilling out a few of the extra track links to insert connector pins. After experimenting so many times with different wires at time over the years to makes cables, the overall look wasn’t too bad there was also most always little bumps or kinks in one of the strands or different sections twisting at different rates. I have a spool of .01” lead wire I use for detailing and found that this twists very smooth and evenly. I think I could have even gone a bit tighter. That's 3 strands. Before I went to Chicago I put some little metal and rubber bit in a window box and moistened the soil with oil. Look at the pretty buds I got! And no… I am not smoking bud. After priming and base coating an empty milk jug I spent a looong time practicing some freehand camo. Here’s the end result of the red brown. Look too dark to me so I think I will go over it to tone it down. What do you think? Green later tonight. And here is a “tip” tip. I pulled out my Grex since not only is it the best AB I have, the trigger grip keeps my hand from cramping up during a long continuous session. The tip of the needle was bent. I laid it down flat on a little jeweler’s anvil and held a small block of wood tight on top. Slowly twisting the needle as it is pulled out and it was perfect. I took the pics after I realized this worked but now you can see how straight the tip is.

Robbo... 50/50 (ish) Tamiya dark yellow and whit with a little buff thrown in. Here is the redder version with the green. I have not applied the buff wash yet until all the decals are on. I use Future to set the decal. Seals and gets rid the air so no silvering all in one steps. After they were wet on the paper for a bit I added some Micro Set to soften them a bit for the zim texture. When I applied the decal to the little puddle of Future on the side of the turret the liquid started to turn white and like jelly. I have some re-painting to do.

Dan, east... thanks guys Ya heard of speed dating? This is tunring into speed WIPing. Turret is fixed and all the huge total of 5 decals... sure as heck not like stenciling an F-15 ...and the buff "wash" has been sprayed to tone everything down.

Rob, Tony, Bill... thanks guys. All the washes applied (I think so anyway) a bit of color highlighting... really can't see it in the pic too much... and a dry brush. Starting on the wheels. They are brush with raw umber oil paint and allowed to sit for about 15 minutes. Then I brush them with dry clean stiff brushes, each step with a different, cleaner brush. If the brush loads up too much I brush back and forth on paper towel. Only 2 brushes in the photo but I used 3. Then lastly a light wipe with a soft cosmetic sponge… again dry. That’s my base for oil stains, dirt etc.

Awfully nice looking Panther I see here. I like the results of the washes in particular, and, while never having heard of paper zimmerit before, have been made a believer. Geat work!
