Sorry for falling behind a bit and late with saying thanks to all for all the positive feedback. But at least I was not wasting time…I am calling this one done. As I was about to trim and paint the last piece to add to the side of the hull and decided I didn’t like the look. So what better to look like a spool of cable than a spool of cable? I twisted 3 strands of 42 gauge wire to make that cable and some scrap PE for the bracket. And with that to complete my 1st MSC build blog (is that redundant?) … My final opinion of the paper zim. It has a nice in scale appearance, especially for quarter scale. Once the learning curve flattens out I really am pleased with the look of the zim. I would likely use it again. If it can be done on thinner stock I would love to see what they can do for 1/72 scale.

Stunning result, wing nut And I agree with you, paper zim looks great, at least in quarter scale.

Thanks you all for the nice comments and support through the 1st build. I was worried that I was gonna "F" royally. But i am pretty pleased with the outcome. Only thing I forgot to do was hand some extra track on the turret.
A question about the hooks on the turret. Would all the hooks be there, 3 pairs each side, as a standard? Or could it be they were just welded on where some track was gonna hang?

Again thanks so much to you all.
Tony, please pass on a special thank you to Catherine.
Chris, I kinda had that feeling. I spent some time today adding the hooks and tracks. Glad I did.
New pics soon.

Looks great Marc! The camo color is spot on!!! Can't wait to see you lay down some washes!!! One question on the decs..."applied the decal to a little puddle of future".....did you set the decal using future? Only curious as normally I would seal the area where the decal would go with let's say Future, let it dry, use Micro-sol, let it dry then seal again with a clear coat. Think the "jelly" like substance might be the process!

Hi T. Yes, I use the Future to set the decal. It seals the decal and prevents the silveirng all in one go. I apply some Future to the model. Slide the decal off the paper and cover it with a bit more Future. I use a stiff(ish) brush to position and press it down into place. I then roll a q-tip over the surface to get out and air the may be trapped and to get up the excess Future. On a flat surface, can't do this in the zim, when it is really dry I will wet sand with some 4000 micro-mesh to take away edges and add a bit of wear. These decal have large clear areas of film but all is invisible. The "jelly" was a chemical reaction to the use of Micro Set in and attempt to soften the decal before putting it in the Future puddle. here is some MS poured into Future.
